General Motors has officially announced that the all-new GMC Hummer EV will debut this coming fall. Reservations will also open up in the fall, while production will kick off a year later in the fall of 2021. The automaker declined to provide any exact dates or additional details on the forthcoming battery-powered pickup, but did include a new teaser video that lists some enticing features to whet our collective appetites.
The new video is just over a minute long, and like previous teaser videos, includes an appearance from NBA legend LeBron James.
“The real revolutionaries, the ones that change the game forever, understand that strength is never enough,” James narrates. “Evolving, imagining, seeing the world not as it is, but how it could be. That’s how true greatness is realized. That is how you change the world.”
The video lists a few specs already known to us, such as the automaker’s claims that the GMC Hummer EV will produce 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and sprint to 60 mph in three seconds. The automaker’s Ultium battery technology will provide the juice.
The video also lists a number of the all-electric truck’s features, including:
- Open Air Infinity Roof
- Adrenaline Mode
- Crab Mode
- Super Fast Charging
- Next Gen Super Cruise
- Modular Sky Panels
- Ultra Vision Cameras
The video footage is composed of several quick shots that show a behind-the-scenes look at vehicle development, featuring things like the GM’s new BT1 vehicle platform, which will underpin the GMC Hummer EV. We also get to see a clay mockup of the truck’s design, and a bare prototype model being built.
The video ends with an outline of the truck in silhouette, followed by an outline of the GMC Hummer EV’s second body style, an SUV model, also in silhouette. The truck body style will officially be called an SUT, or Sport Utility Truck, while the SUV body style will stick with the common SUV naming.
The GMC Hummer EV was originally slated for a reveal on May 20th, but was delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stay tuned, as we’ll have plenty more to say about the new GMC Hummer EV as its debut approaches. In the meantime, make sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more GMC Hummer news, GMC news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.
