GMC Hummer EV SUV Revealed In Latest Teaser Video

Earlier today, General Motors released a new teaser video for the upcoming GMC Hummer EV. The video included a number of enticing hints regarding the new all-electric pickup truck, but it also included a teaser of the model’s follow-up body style – the new GMC Hummer EV SUV.

GMC Hummer EV teaser

The new GMC Hummer EV SUV was shown in shadowy silhouette at the end of the teaser video, giving viewers an idea what the model will look like and its general shape.

Standout details gleaned from the teaser include a long roofline with a gentle downward slope. The lines connote large, thick shapes for the body panels, flared-out fenders, and an upright fascia design. A shark-fin antenna is positioned towards the rearmost section of the vehicle, while a full-size spare tire is mounted on the rear hatch. The wheels get a polished multi-spoke design and large diameter, and come wrapped in chunky-looking rubber. Overall sizing is believed to be roughly equivalent to that of the GMC Yukon.

“The world’s first supertruck is just the beginning,” the teaser announces, referencing the new GMC Hummer SUT (Sport Utility Truck) and SUV.

The video also lists a number of the GMC Hummer EV’s various features, including:

The GMC Hummer EV SUV will be closely related to the SUT model, utilizing the same BT1 vehicle platform and Ultium battery technology. GM has also stated that the Hummer SUT will produce 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and will sprint to 60 mph in three seconds, specs which we could very well see mirrored in the upcoming SUV model.

The GMC Hummer EV SUT was originally scheduled for a reveal in May, but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pickup will now debut this fall, with production kicking off in 2021. The reveal date and production date for the SUV body style is not yet known. Both models will be produced at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan.

  1. Bronco who?

    1. The Hummer will be in a completely different segment and cost 1.5-2 times as much as the Bronco and Wrangler (trim level vs. trim level), being that it is 100% EV. Sorry bud.

This statement comes from a GM guy through and through who has three late model GM’s parked in his garage at this very moment.

      1. All they have to do is make an ICE version if it looks as good as the silhouette suggests. And a stubby version.

Either way; Rivian is in trouble.

        1. That’s a great theory; however, GM has already said that Hummer will be a 100% EV brand. Would I love for them to produce ICE versions? Sure, but from what they are saying, it is NOT going to happen.

  2. What will be critical is the price of the GMC Hummer EV because the vehicle whether as a pickup or SUV needs to be affordable as any thought of a $200K pricetag similar to Cadillac’s Lyriq would mean the GMC Hummer would essentially be DOA and unaffordable for most consumers.

    1. I agree. But, depending on what GM’s intentions are with this product, it dang well better be affordable if it to be a mainstream one.

    2. BZZZZZZ Wrong! You forgetting the last Hummer family was aspiring toward lux and exclusiveness? This may well compete with MB GLS, Rivian, Telsa.

    3. It is coming in @$49k to $100k depending on what level you buy.

I will be right in the meet of the upscale truck segment.

    4. Will you stop saying the Lyriq will be 200k because it won’t that’s the Celestiq the hand built Caddie.

  3. There are some things, you just shouldn’t comment on. This is one of them.

  4. The SUV will be the bread and butter of the two, the one that sells more, goes off road more, is more mainstream. The truck will be the variant aimed more towards a status symbol, more unique, and probably pricier.

I’ll take either, but the SUV is my preferred. I love how it looks so similar to the H3…makes it seem like a perfect design progression, even if separated by over a decade.

  5. Recent pics show it still in the “pre-production” build state, you know, a one off hand built model. That would indicate no real world testing has been done yet. So GM doesn’t even know if this thing, once assembled, works. And it will be in production and for sale by next fall? I’m not taking any deep breaths……………..

    2. Given they are already updating the Detroit-Hamtramck plant to build this thing I think they are done with design and development. Later this year early next year the will be building off the production line to test that process.

  6. I read that the Hummer will have a range of 400 miles, which in the EV world is huge!

I think I might have been correct in my prediction…..Please let that be the case!!!

    1. Not even close in size or in concept.

  10. The new Hummer will be a Bronco and Cyber Truck competitor in that Joe Cool in all our neighborhoods will have to buy one:)

Price wise, I think the Hummer and the Cyber Truck will cost two or three times as much as the Bronco.
