Schulte Subaru employee Glen Elness has been working for the dealership for the past 23 years. A dedicated employee with a strong work ethic and positive attitude, Elness has become like a member of the Schulte family. So when they decided to show their appreciation for Elness, they did so in a big way.
Elness may work at a Subaru dealership, but his passion lies with Chevrolet. Specifically with the early second-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Elness has been obsessed with the second-gen Camaro for years and frequently talks about the car to his co-workers at the dealership. He even has one set as his background on his work computer.
According to local ABC affiliate Dakota News Now, dealership owner Terry Schulte approached his son Mike about giving Elness a second-gen Chevrolet Camaro as a sign of appreciation for all his hard work. They eventually tracked down a black example with white racing stripes and wrote a heartfelt thank you message on the windshield before giving it to an emotional Elness.
“Dad came up one day and says, ‘You know how Glen has been obsessed about a Camaro his whole life?’ He goes, ‘Let’s find him one and give it to him,’” Mike Schulte told Dakota News Now.
“Just to see that. It kind of all hit me at once. Just wow, you know? Overwhelming with every emotion you could think of,” Elness said after receiving the car. “Puts into perspective what all the hard work, what many years of service, and actually how much they really appreciate you. Just grateful.”
Elness’ co-workers had only positive things to say about him when speaking to Dakota News Now.
“One of the greatest guys to work with, always upbeat, always running around going 100 miles an hour,” said Matt Branjord, Schulte Subaru’s training manager.
Elness’ Camaro is now a rolling piece of proof that hard work, positivity and passion can pay off in a big way.
