Chevrolet’s 2021 Silverado 1500 will gain three new editions – the All Star Edition Plus, Texas Edition Plus, and LTZ Premium Texas Edition, GM Authority has discovered by way of documents sent to dealers.
The three new editions – which could also be referred to as packages – apply to the LT, RST and LTZ trim levels. Here’s what they’re all about.
Trim Level: | Work Truck | Custom | Custom Trail Boss | LT | RST | LT Trail Boss | LTZ | High Country |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PEG: | 1WT | 1CX | 2CX | 1LT | 1SP | 2LT | 1LZ | 3LZ |
1. 2021 Silverado Texas Edition Plus
The first new edition for the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the Texas Edition Plus (RPO code PDP). Available on the LT and RST trim levels, the Texas Edition Plus includes the following features and content:
- Convenience Package II:
- Universal Home Remote (aka HomeLink / garage door system)
- Rear sliding power window
- 120-volt power outlet
- 120-volt bed-mounted power outlet
- Chevrolet Infotainment System with 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen with:
- USB ports
- SiriusXM with 360L
- HD radio
- HD Rear Vision Camera
- On RST, package also includes Convenience Package and Bose Premium Sound System
- 20-inch aluminum wheels with Argent metallic pockets (RD4)
- Texas Edition badging
The new Texas Edition Plus replaces the “regular” Texas Edition package offered on the 2020 Silverado 1500, which was similarly offered on the LT and RST trims, but included a different set of features and content, as follows:
- Convenience Package
- G80 Locking rear differential
- Z82 Trailering Package
- Texas Edition badging
Moreover, the 2021 Silverado LT and RST gain the following features as standard:
- All Star Edition
- Convenience Package:
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Heated steering wheel
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- 10-way power driver seat including power lumbar
- Heated driver and front outboard passenger seats
- Auxiliary power outlet

2. 2021 Silverado All Star Edition Plus
The second new edition for the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the All Star Edition Plus (RPO code PDD). It’s optional on the LT and RST and includes the following features and content:
- Convenience Package II:
- Universal Home Remote (aka HomeLink / garage door system)
- Rear sliding power window
- 120-volt power outlet
- 120-volt bed-mounted power outlet
- Chevrolet Infotainment System with 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen with:
- USB ports
- SiriusXM with 360L
- HD radio
- HD Rear Vision Camera
- On RST, package also includes Convenience Package and Bose Premium Sound System
- 20-inch aluminum wheels with Argent metallic pockets (RD4)
Those paying particularly close attention to the details may notice that the All Star Edition Plus package is essentially identical to the aforementioned Texas Edition Plus, with one key difference: the All Star pack doesn’t include Texas Edition badging. That’s because, as with prior All Star Editions, the All Star package is identical to the Texas Edition package, but is created for dealers located outside the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Dealers located in those states can order the Texas Edition package, while dealers located outside those states can not. Instead, they get the All Star Edition package in place of the Texas Edition.
As mentioned earlier, the LT and RST models of the 2021 Silverado 1500 get the All Star Edition, Convenience Package, Z82 Trailering Package and G80 auto-locking rear differential as standard.
3. 2021 Silverado LTZ Premium Texas Edition
The third new edition for the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the LTZ Premium Texas Edition (RPO code PDY). As the name implies, it’s optional on the LTZ trim and includes the following features and content:
- LTZ Convenience Package II:
- Chevrolet Infotainment System with Navigation and 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen
- Bose Premium Audio System
- Wireless Charging (for smartphone)
- Safety Package II:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- IntelliBeam headlamps
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Following Distance Indicator
- Power sunroof
- Texas Edition badging
The new LTZ Premium Texas Edition replaces the LTZ Texas Edition offered on the 2020 Silverado 1500, which was similarly available on the LTZ model but included a different set of features and content:
- LTZ Convenience Package:
- Bucket seats with center console
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Rear sliding power window
- Universal Home Remote
- 2 USB ports with auxiliary input
- Power up/down tailgate
- Rear heated seats (Crew Cab models only)
- Safety Package:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- IntelliBeam headlamps
- Following Distance Indicator
- Camera-based Adaptive Cruise Control
- Safety Alert Seat
- Texas Edition badging
Additionally, the 2021 Silverado 1500 adds the LTZ Plus Package as standard equipment on the LTZ model. The package includes:
- LTZ Convenience Package:

- Rear sliding power window

- Rear heated seats
- Safety Package:

Other Noteworthy Package-Level Changes
The 2021 Silverado 1500 also features a few other package-level changes, including the deletion of the LT Value package and RST Value Package, which included the following features for the 2020 MY:
LT Value Package:
- Remote Start Package

- All-weather floor liners
Interestingly, the 2021 Silverado Real Tree Edition, which Chevrolet officially announced in January for the 2021 model year, is absent from the documents we’ve seen. That can be explained by one of two scenarios: either the Real Tree edition will be pushed back to the 2022 model year, or more is yet to come in the way of 2021 Silverado package and equipment group changes.
To note, all of the aforementioned editions and package-level changes will join various other changes and updates for the 2021 Silverado 1500. That said, it appears that the long-awaited interior update will not arrive for the 2021 model year, but will be pushed to the 2021.5 (2021 interim) or 2022 model year instead.
As of this writing, GM is planning to begin production of the 2021 Silverado 1500 in September 2020.
The GM Authority Take
The package-level changes outlined above to the LT, RST and LTZ – the core Silverado models – appear to be geared toward making the pickup trucks easier to order and to spec. As one dealer tell us, the changes will “remove the majority of pain points related to Silverado [1500] configurations and orders.” Meanwhile, another dealer noted that the standardization of the packages and features will likely result in a higher base price for the bread-and-butter pickup truck.
We’ll have more about the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado shortly, so be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for the latest Chevrolet Silverado news, Chevrolet news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.
Comments
All GM does is take the same old options, bunch them together, change the name to make it sound interesting and charge you 3k for them. Dont they get bored of this?
You must be new to the business to not understand the purpose of these changes.
This is done to simplify and streamline the order and build process and comes from direct feedback from dealers. With these changes, they’ve just finally removed the majority of pain points in ordering one of these trucks.
Think things through before jumping on the criticism bandwagon.
New to the business??? What are you talking about??? All of us reading this are hard working stiffs who have no clue what the hell the “business” is. GM needs to stop moving the shell to confuse us with packages that all lead up to “oh, we’re not creative enough to come up with something new for 2019, 2020, 2021… so let’s confuse them more with silly package tricks”. GM, and you sales guys, just need to stop with the tricks and accept that Ram and Ford have rocket ships while GM is still building Hyundai’s from the 1990’s. I, no, I’m sure we all finally want to see a quality GM product. We want updated engines, not ecotec 3, 4, 5….10, that continue to make the same horsepower and torque. In fact, how is it possible that the engines have been updated if there are no gains? Another gimmick? Very likely. GM is so overwhelmed by the competitions engines that it is now putting the 6.2 in everything. Next up, what the hell is it that GM is stuck on the 1990 sunroofs? I mean come on, panoramic sunroofs have been around for +10 years. In a major update such as the 2019 & 2020 model years they couldn’t even get that right. Come on GM, it’s called “EFFORT” and “PRIDE” in your brand. All I’m asking for as a GM guy is for you to FIX IT, get it right and make it better than Ram and Ford.
the custom rst is a nice truck. with an average joe price.if it had power seats id own one
Disappointed in the delay on the interior update. Was looking forward to this being included with the 2021 model!
While Ford has installed BarcaLoungers in the f150 .
Also what about the tailgate was there talk of the Silverado getting the GMC tailgate??
Too Bad Chevy didn’t add a new front end and dash to the so call New Edition
Is GM stuck in the 90’s? Whats next, a pen strip package?
GM Authority was wrong again. The interior updates won’t take place until 2022.
The GM Authority did provide an update on the interior of the Full Size Trucks early last week for the 2022 M.Y.
And that was the 3rd time they reported a different story.
No. 1, fix the cheapass, Walmart interior and you won’t have to add 3 special editions!
I’m a service advisor at Auto Clearing Jeep & Ram Centre in Saskatoon, SK in Canada. Trust me you don’t wanna touch a Chrysler anything with a 10ft pole!!
The leather wheel, power seat, remote start and automatic climate control should have been standard on the LT and RST from the start!
Tired of gm being behind the curve I’m done with gm and after 30 years I’m going to buy the new 150. All management at gm needs to go
Really surprised that nobody has mentioned some very interesting changes on the ’21 Silverado lower end trims.
The Custom and Custom Trail Boss Convenience and Infotainment packages are now standard.
If you option the “safety essentials package” on the C/CTB you get the larger 4.2″ color Driver Information Screen. That includes the steering wheel mounted volume, etc controls!! No more blank space on the wheel!
There will be a CTB Midnight edition.
And last but not least, the fold down armrest FINALLY has a storage compartment.
The safety package has been renamed to “Safety Confidence Package”.
I hope Chevrolet starts making ’21s soon.
Where’s the Regular Cab, Standard Bed, LT Z71?
You to make that long trip to Mexico to grab one, doesn’t seem like GM will budge on bringing that particular model back across the Border Wall.
I’m a GM guy, have been forever. In fact, I bought the new style Silverado in April of 2019. Got the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST with the SCA Black Widow package, love the vehicle. However, this is not to say I’m not disappointed with GM, I am in fact very disappointed with GM with these new T1’s. Looking at the competition in RAM and the F150, GM continues to be stuck and moving ever so faster in reverse. The inside of the new Silverado/Sierra is a slight upgrade from previous models. For example, on the RST model, the new Silverado flagship, the passenger seat is still manual, in both RAM and F150, this is power. The infotainment system is near the same as previous models, in RAM they have a Tesla like infotainment system and in the new F150’s, there is a significant upgrade as well. Now one of the big issues, the interior of the Silverado/Sierra is the same old tired hard black plastics as GM has had for the last 10 years. There has only been a slight effort to add a few soft materials, but it still feels like a 1990 Hyundai interior, very cheap. Flip over to Ram and F150, the interiors are incredible. Lastly, the engines, what is up with little changes to the engines with the exception of this crappy dynamic fuel management, aka cylinder deactivation. The update 5.3L ecotech 3 feels a little better with the 8 speed transmission, but it still makes the same horsepower and torque as previous 5.3’s. The 6.2L is still king, but it is even slipping to the Ford and Ram engines. In a nut shell, I still love GM, but I’m struggling to find reasons to continue coming back when RAM and F150 are really catering to, and listen GM, listen carefully, the “CUSTOMER”. Team GM, you need to listenn to the customer, it’s not 1962 anymore, and this isn’t the the time of our grandfathers Silverado, you really need to step up the game. Making minor changes in so called “packages” that just confuse customers in not the way to win the market. Most customers are not car sales guys and gals, we are working folks who have no clue as to what the hell an All Star Edition is, sot with the packaging tricks and gimmicks and go out there and beat Ford and RAM. Or, you can ignore my comments, go out there and continue to do what you have been doing and look forward to bankruptcy and purchase by a Japanese car manufacturer.
Have they addressed the vibration in the 2021 model?
Have had Chevy trucks for 30 years. Picture of the 2021 front interior and dashboard look identical to my 6 year old 2014. How boring. Going to have to consider a different make. Ford or Dodge.
I love the way the new Silverado looks…Gonna order a 21 if I can get a decent deal
I just bought a 2021 Trail Boss. It came with front wheel well liners but not rear. The rear wheel wells are literally exposed metal. I read a Trail Boss description for 2021 that said that my truck is supposed to come with “specialty rear wheel liners”. My salesman doesn’t know anything about this. He thinks that the front should be protected and the rear should not. Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you
Over the years, IMHO, GM has had higher quality bodies, interiors & drive trains than FORD
& MOPAR. However, seems that GM has been asleep @ the wheel in the past about ten (10)
years on all of above fronts. They are relying on their previously committed customers to HAND THEM THEIR MARKET SHARE!! Hello GM!! Have U not noticed your WITHERING MARKET SHARE #’s?? FOMOCO & MOPAR haven’t been resting on their LAURELS like GM.
What happens when Toyota breaks through with a quality 3/4 and 1 Ton?? GM’s previous market share will simply move to now THREE ALTERNATIVES despite GM having all the experience of these past thirty (30) years &,their LEGIONS of staff. Follow the money …. maybe give top to bottom BONUSES with every 0.25% gain in MARKET SHARE & U may start to see the competitive juices flow!! I really don’t want to lose GM. GOSH, don’t FORCE THE ISSUE!!
