2021 Chevy Trailblazer Roof Rack Cross Bars Are Nowhere To Be Found

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer offers a good deal of cargo room and practicality, slotting in to the top of its segment with 25.3 cubic-feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded up, and 54.4 cubic-feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. Even more practicality would be possible with the installation of roof rack cross bars – however, General Motors doesn’t offer such an accessory, leading to some frustration among owners.
We here at GM Authority have received messages from 2021 Chevy Trailblazer owners expressing a desire to equip their new vehicle with roof rack cross bars. However, GM does not offer them, as confirmed by Chevrolet’s Rita Kass-Shamoun.
“We do not currently offer that type of accessory for the Trailblazer,” Kass-Shamoun told GM Authority.
For now, it looks like General Motors has no plans to offer roof rack cross bars for the new Trailblazer. According to our research, all 2020 and 2021 model-year Chevy crossovers and SUVs are offered with cross bars as accessories, with the exception of the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. Additionally, while cross bars are offered for the Buick Encore GX, which rides on the same GM VSS-F platform as the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, the bars will not fit on the new Trailblazer.
That said, GM does offer some Thule roof rack accessories for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, such as a Roof-Mounted Watersport Carrier, a Roof-Mounted Dock Glide Kayak Carrier, and a Roof-Mounted Compass Watersport Kayak Carrier – but no universal roof rack cross bars.
To note, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer comes equipped with roof rails as standard on LT trim levels. Roof rails are no offered on the L or LS trims. The roof rails on the LT are silver, while the ACTIV and RS trims both get black roof rails.

How would you mount any of those kayak carriers without crossbars? I’m confused, but not surprised by GMs lack of foresight with this vehicle.
It’s really too bad because it’s a sharp looking design, but just lacks in so many areas that other companies address at that RS trim price point. I’m just hoping that they decide to offer a more refined drivetrain on what is a very competent platform. That 1.3t designed in China and made in Mexico isn’t a proper upgrade from the 1.4t made in Flint that it’s trying to replace IMHO.
While they are not available yet, the part has # has been released and shipping and dist. should start any day. #42769714 will be the reference number once they are available.
Have a look for them on 2021 Yukon as an option. Not there either. Probably the same for Tahoe as well but haven’t checked.
I have a new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer and yes GM needs to sell crossbars. It’s ridiculous that these aren’t available!
Agree I recently purchased one and cant carry our kayaks!
Crossbars should be a must on crossovers that offer roof rails. Love the trailblazer but GM is disappointing in this regard. Bought an suv primarily for the roof carrying capacity, just to find out a simple accessory isn’t even available.
I’m a GM guy (sitting in a Sierra right now) and read this with amusement. Blame the lawyers IMHO. I think you’ll find GM hasn’t offered crossbars yet because it’s worried about the weekend warrior that will try to put a lift of plywood on the roof from Home Depot and either damage the vehicle, themselves, and the public or all three. I see all kinds of rolling travesties on the weekends and that would be par for the course. They’re clearly trying to Market to the active older youth segment with the ski and kayak carriers and such. But they don’t want people putting refrigerators on the roof because of huge liability (As in “I killed someone when my lawn tractor fell off the roof and why wasn’t not doing that in the owner’s manual?”). An exaggeration perhaps. But bet that’s why. Aside from that, I question why this vehicle is any different or better than the Equinox or Traverse. It seems like an unnecessary vehicle and redundant. Why they didn’t offer an updated Blazer based on the current Colorado/Canyon with real towing and hauling capabilities is a real head scratcher. The world does not need another bland crossover with so so gasoline power. Had the TB come as a hybrid or better, full EV, that would fit the market demand. Once again GM proves what poor marksmen they are. And once again, someone else will eat their lunch on the development and sales of hybrid and electric Crossovers.
Part number 8̶4̶7̶2̶1̶1̶3̶4̶ on Gm parts direct might fit?
There are also cheaper options on amazon, but I’d opt for the factory ones.
Nevermind, that was for the Blazer. Sorry.
The latest Chevrolet Trailblazer commercial shows cross rails.
I want the cross rails! Come on Chevrolet, just do it
