The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has begun to arrive at General Motors dealerships in the United States after a brief production delay brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of GM dealers have uploaded videos to their respective YouTube channels showing the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe models they have recently taken delivery of. A number of different trim levels are shown in these videos, including the High Country, Z71 and Texas Edition. Not surprisingly, it seems GM may be prioritizing the production of more well-equipped and more expensive versions of the Tahoe before releasing base and mid-tier models.
To recap, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country is the new top trim level available on the full-size SUV. High Country models can be easily identified by the unique chrome grille with bronze accents, chrome 22-inch wheels and High Country badging. Vehicles in this trim also get High Country sill plates and seat embroidery and an expanded number of interior upholstery options. All Tahoe High Country models feature the 6.2L L87 V8 engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission and Magnetic Ride Control suspension.
The Tahoe Z71, meanwhile, is the well-known off-road focused variant of the full-size SUV. The new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe gets an abundance of unique equipment that sets it apart from other trims, including a unique front fascia and grille, red tow hooks, Z71 badging, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and black and chrome exterior accents. These models also come standard with a two-speed transfer case and HIll Descent Control. Only the 5.3L L84 V8 is on offer with the Z71 trim.
Also arriving at dealers recently is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Texas Edition. The Texas Edition is available on LT and Premier trim levels, and requires either the Luxury Package or LT Signature Package. It bundles equipment from various popular equipment groups together and also features unique Lone Star edition badging to woo Texas-based buyers.
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 GMC Yukon began rolling off the assembly line at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas in late June after COVID-19 forced GM to close the plant in March. The automaker is focusing on building the Tahoe and Yukon for now, with plans to add the extended Suburban and Yukon XL models at a later date. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV will also enter production in Arlington later this summer.
One option not available on the 2021 Tahoe and Yukon currently is the 3.0L LM2 Duramax I-6 turbodiesel engine. The engine, which is available on every Tahoe trim level except the off-road oriented Z71, is not expected to find its way into the 2021 Tahoe until later this year.
The 2021Chevrolet Tahoe starts at $55,095 with destination.

Saw a white one on the weekend going up the 401 with Mich plates. From the rear it actually appears smaller/narrower than what it is. Looks good overall, great road presence
Boy is that ugly
Can’t wait to see the new Chevrolet Suburban at dealerships soon.
Toyota called. They want their bumper gills returned.
The fish gills ruin this and the Silverado both for me. Too bad because I actually love the back 3/4’s of both. I just can’t get past the front ends.
They are just trying to follow Toyota, the industry leader in styling, you know.
The exterior looks really nice. They did a great job there, but the interior center display is absolutely terrible. Its a shame they didn’t give us the Denali display in the High Country Edition.
Looks like they took the shifter off the steering column. Not a fan of these push button and rotary shifters I’m seeing these days.
New Tahoe and Suburban, just as ugly as your trucks Chevy. Chevy trucks are amazing machines but what’s killing Chevy is design. Just look at sales figures…it speaks volumes. One last thing before I forget, don’t re-design a vehicle in your lineup and put the interior from past years inside, instead think with your dipstick Jimmy
The mirrors are mounted in the middle of the door but there’s a plastic plate where they should go?!
Just like the Silverados… 🧐
I would prefer to have the Z71 if it came with the 6.2L engine option. Right now the GM’s build options only show the 5.3L as the only available engine selection. I checked the June 5, 2020 Print book for the Tahoe and it isn’t showing this option either. Does that mean the dealerships have an inside line to getting Z71s packaged with the 6.2L?
lies. the 6.2 is only available on the high country trim for 2021.
Love the new Tahoe High Country. However, I have had one on order for over a month and the dealer still has no ideas when it will go into production. Bummer.
