2021 Cadillac XT6 2.0L Turbo Fuel Economy Numbers Revealed For Canada

The Canadian fuel economy numbers for the 2021 Cadillac XT6 with the new entry-level turbocharged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine have been released.

When equipped with the base 2.0L turbo and all-wheel drive, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will consume 11.2 L/100 km in the city and 9.0 L/100 km on the highway for a combined rating of 10.2 L/100 km – equivalent to 23 U.S. mpg. The Canadian federal government estimates a 2021 Cadillac XT6 with the 2.0L four-cylinder engine has annual fuel costs of about $2,856 CAD.

The 2.0L LSY engine is a new offering in the XT6 for 2021 and serves as the base engine for the entry-level Luxury trim. The turbo four, which is good for 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, is paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive will be standard in the United States, but Canadian Cadillac XT6 models come standard with AWD, so there are no Canadian fuel economy ratings for FWD models.

The 3.6L LGX V6 engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, also remains available in the Cadillac XT6 for the 2021 model year. Equipped with the 3.6L V6 engine, the crossover is rated at 9.7 L/100 km highway and 13.5 L/100 km city for a combined rating of 11.8 L/100 km – or 20 U.S. mpg – which means the 2.0L engine is about 15 percent more efficient. Like the four-cylinder, the 3.6L V6 is only available with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission in Canada.

Standard equipment on the 2021 Cadillac XT6 Luxury trim, which is the trim that offers the 2.0L engine, includes 18-inch wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, Jet Black leatherette upholstery, brushed aluminum trim, heated front seats, a six-way power driver’s seat, heated outside mirrors, a power tailgate, tri-zone climate control and interior ambient lighting, among other things. All 2021 model-year XT6s also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as standard.

Pricing for the 2021 Cadillac XT6 Luxury with the 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine will start at $48,995 in the United States. Canadian pricing for the Luxury trim has not yet been announced, but the uplevel Premium Luxury trim with the V6 begins at $61,098 CAD for the 2020 model year.

  1. Cadillac XT6 is supposed to be near the top of the luxury CUV foodchain and gets only a 2.0L 4-cyl turbo for an engine as this is a failure of leadership by General Motors CEO Mary Barra; no V6 engine option or Duramax turbodiesel.

    1. Can you not read? It has the 3.6 V6 as an option, what are you saying? Pretty sure Mary doesn’t walk into Cadillac HQ and tell them what engines to offer in their cars.

  2. This engine is no ball of fire in any of the other vehicles it is installed in including the lighter XT4 and XT5. I can’t imagine how it’s going to be in something this heavy and pricey. Wouldn’t a 3.6 with a mild or full on hybrid make more sense with much stronger performance and far better MPG than the underpowered 2.0 LSY would produce. Even a turbo diesel option would be a good idea on this vehicle. Heck even the mild hybrid system that was used in the LaCrosse 2.5 would have helped and improved MPG by up to 4-5 MPG and cost little to implement. Too bad GM is pulling out of literally everything save trucks, SUV’s and electric. So narrow in focus

  3. Maybe GM could figure out how to put the GM 8 speed junk transmission in the XT6 !

Then after that offer a $10,000.00 discount, they could sell some !

    Maybe a 6 ” screen, yeah a 6″ screen could help !

  4. Cadillac Management or let’s say GM Management has pretty much shown us that Cadillac is nothing more than a shelf brand with little or nothing that means luxury. The Escalade is an adopted product that has its followers but that’s it. Their EV products will be greeted with skepticism then once the bean counters get their say we will be right back to making excuses.
