The 2020 Corvette C8 packs world-class performance without breaking the bank with some outrageous price tag. Critically, the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette makes maintenance equally as accessible, as demonstrated in the following Corvette Academy video.
The video is just one minute, 40 seconds long, but details some of the basics that go into 2020 Corvette C8 maintenance. Naturally, Chevy recommends heading over to the service department at your local dealer, but the video still provides some info for those owners who choose to go the DIY route.
“If you plan to do your own oil changes, you’ll find Corvette was designed with easy-access opening under the car for the oil drain and filter, so the close-out panels do not need to be removed to do an oil change,” the video outlines.

Mounted just behind the 2020 Corvette C8 cabin is the all-new naturally aspirated 6.2L LT2 V8 engine, which comes with a dry-sump lubrication system. This system not only keeps the engine running strong and smooth, but it also makes maintenance easier, with the first scheduled engine oil change recommended at 7,500 miles, rather than 500 miles. The first transmission fluid filter change is also recommended at 7,500 miles. The first transmission fluid change is recommended at 45,000 miles.
As a reminder, the 2020 Corvette C8 is equipped with the all-new M1L eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and RWD.
Fluid life varies on a number of different factors, including driving conditions and temperature. What’s more, the 2020 Corvette C8 will monitor the engine oil and transmission fluid life, as indicated in the gauges cluster.
For those 2020 Corvette C8 owners that want to stay up to date on the latest maintenance recommendations, this brief video is worth a watch.

Thank you, GM. Better late than never. The only debate sparked has been the insistence upon those familiar with new car break-in schedules to throw in an extra oil and filter change at 500-1500 miles. AF
