The all-new 2021 GMC Yukon debuted in January with a complete ground-up overhaul, including not only new technology, a new cabin, and a long list of fresh features, but a new exterior design as well. Now, we’re getting our first look at the mid-range 2021 Yukon SLT, comparing it against the range-topping Denali trim level in terms of styling features.
To help illustrate the differences between these two trims, we’ve pulled configurator images of both in Summit White paint.
Let’s start in front, where we find the grille treatment helps to set these two trims apart. Whereas the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali gets a polished mesh grille, the 2021 Yukon SLT gets broader slats for its insert. Both trims come standard with C-shaped LED lighting signatures for the headlamps, as well as standard LED fog lamps with a vertical orientation in the lower corners. Silver trim bits help to offset the various styling elements. Both trims also come with Rainsense Windshield Wipers.
The profile view also reveals that the 2021 Yukon Denali gets Outside Heated, Power-Folding Adjustable Mirrors as standard, whereas the 2021 Yukon SLT offers the feature as an available option. The badging on the lower portion of the doors also differs, with the Denali receiving “Denali” badging with polished lettering, and the SLT receiving “Yukon” badging with polished lettering. The lower styling line is done in a slightly darker hue.
Both models get silver roof rails and DLO (daylight opening) treatments. Black Assist Steps with Gloss-Black inserts are standard for both models, while the Denali is offered with Power-Retractable Assist Steps with Perimeter Lighting.
The wheel design also differs, with the 2021 Yukon Denali standard with 20-inch six-spoke Multidimensional Polished Aluminum Wheels, and the 2021 Yukon SLT standard with 20-inch six-spoke Polished Aluminum Wheels. The Denali is also offered with available 22-inch Bright Machined Aluminum Wheels with Premium Paint.
Finally, the rear end on the 2021 Yukon SLT gets a tucked-under exhaust treatment, whereas the 2021 Yukon Denali gets quad polished exhaust tips. The badging on the tail gate also differs, although both get polished trim bits with red GMC lettering and a roof spoiler mounted to the top of the hatch. Both also get C-shaped LED lighting signatures for the tail lamps.

They should put that grill on the trucks.
I wouldnt be surprised if they didn’t even though it would look nice, the Sierra may have something a little bit more unique to fit in with it’s own identity for the mid-life refresh maybe in 2022.
Never understood the notion not to show the SLE.
When I get my inheritance and commissions I will certainly be getting a Denali XL.
I am certainly going to get the Denali.
Kind of weird that Chevy is giving both the Premier and High Country visible dual exhaust but the more expensive GMC only offers it on the Denali and not the SLT. For the prices being charged they should all have a dual exhaust std along with all the advanced safety equipment, especially on the higher grade GMC’s.
SLT all way. I have never liked the Denali grill. It has always seemed over powering and somewhat distracting to me. I’m in my 7th SLT now and love everything about the SLT line. My current SLT has the premium package that has its own upgraded grill with horizontal chrome slates. I think it’s the best looking grill in the Yukon line up. I’m hoping it will be available on the 2021 SLT premium package for my next GMC Yukon.

We purchased a 2021yukon SLT,and it came in without adjustable pedals and without a heated steering wheel. Does anyone know if these are standard on the SLT?

I know the SLT Premium Plus with the 6.2 Liter comes with Heated Seats but I suspect that you would have to get the Denali Trim in order to get the Heated Steering Wheel option also.
Our suv has the everything on it. We wanted the movable console and that did not come but that was it.
Our bug reflector did not come
