Like the majority of General Motors products currently on sale, the 2020 Buick Encore GX comes with a built-in OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. It works just like any other wireless internet network, allowing users to link up their devices and take advantage of the ultra-fast connection as they browse the web, video chat with friends or whatever else it is they typically do online.
Customers who are new to the GM family, such as those who may purchase the new 2020 Buick Encore GX premium compact crossover, may not be familiar with how to set up and use the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot in their vehicle. Readers who count themselves among those new, somewhat confused GM owners are in the right place, because in this article, we’re going to go over how to take advantage of this convenient technology.
In the 2020 Buick Encore GX, the settings for the Wi-Fi system can be accessed via the ‘Wi-Fi Hotspot’ tab on the home screen of the infotainment system. After clicking this, they will be sent to a separate menu for the Wi-Fi settings with a tab reading ‘Share Hotspot Data’. After toggling this tab to the ‘On’ position, the MyBuick hotspot will appear on their device. From here, all they have to do is select the MyBuick network, enter the password (the current password is shown in the aforementioned Wi-Fi menu) and log in. They will then be able to use the hotspot while in and around the vehicle.
The OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot in the 2020 Buick Encore GX and other new GM products can connect up to seven devices at once and will produce a reliable internet connection up to 50 feet away from the vehicle. The vehicle ignition needs to be in the ‘Run’ or ‘Accessory’ position for the hotspot to be active.
Check out the video embedded below for a clear demonstration of how to take advantage of the OnStar 4G LTE hotspot.
