As we reported back in February, Chevy is no longer offering the Visible Carbon Fiber Ground Effects Package (RPO code 5VM) for the 2020 Corvette. Luckily, it looks like the aftermarket is picking up the slack, as Florida-based Atomic 6 Carbon is now offering up its own OEM-style aero kit.
The new aftermarket kit takes after the factory aero kit with regard to design and shape, and is made from 100 percent real carbon fiber. The kit includes both the front splitter, and the two side skirts as well.
Up front, the 2020 Corvette aero kit juts out from underneath the lower bumper section, following the curves with a sharp, shark-tooth style. The front splitter section then creases up at 90 degrees in the corners, lying against the sides of the bumper section.
Meanwhile, the side skirts come out straight from underneath the doors. Further towards the rear of the pieces, the carbon is folded upwards, leading the eye up to the prominent side intakes.
These OEM 5VM-style carbon fiber ground effects are priced at $5,999.99. Buyers can also add a pin stripe option in their desired paint code for an extra $199.99.
Atomic 6 Carbon also offers an OEM Z51-style front splitter for the 2020 Corvette, also in full carbon fiber, as well as carbon fiber aero for the previous C7-generation Chevrolet Corvette.
As a reminder, the factory 5VM carbon fiber package was pulled from the 2020 Corvette options list as a result of supplier issues. The composite aero add-ons proved to be more popular than GM originally anticipated, and the supplier simply couldn’t meet demand.
Luckily, it looks as though this aftermarket carbon kit is more or less an exact replica of the factory kit, so for those buyers that demand these composite components on their new Vette, there’s still hope.
