The COPO Camaro is a vehicle that is meant to be driven. Actually, to be more accurate, it is a vehicle that is meant to be raced – specifically in the NHRA’s Factory Stock Showdown and Stock Eliminator classes, where it takes on rivals like the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak and Ford Mustang Cobra Jet.
Despite this, it seems that many COPO Camaro examples never reach the race track. Back in April, we brought readers’ attention to a 2019 COPO Camaro for sale at Choice Auto and Truck Sales in Arizona that had never been raced and was still wearing the protective wrapping from the factory. Now we’re turning attention to another COPO Camaro that has never seen a track, which, coincidentally, is also located in Arizona.
This COPO Camaro is currently for sale at Scottsdale-based dealership Hubbard Auto Center. The car, finished in the popular Red Hot exterior color, is the most well-equipped and heavily optioned COPO Camaro that one could buy in 2018. It not only features the optional exterior graphics package, but also the available supercharged 350 cubic-inch V8 engine. This was the most powerful engine offered in the COPO Camaro in 2018 and is good for roughly 1,200 horsepower thanks to a large 2.9L Whipple supercharger. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a durable three-speed TH400 automatic transmission. GM claims the 2018 COPO Camaro with the supercharged 350 V8 can complete the quarter-mile in the mid-8-second range and will speed through the traps at an impressive 160 mph.
The COPO Camaro at Hubbard, which is one of only 69 produced in 2018, is listed for sale for a rather significant $129,000. That’s a lot of money, but considering this is a limited-production turn-key drag car that is ready for NHRA competition right out of the box, we’d say that’s a pretty good deal. It’s worth noting that this car is not road legal, however, and does not have a VIN. The only way to enjoy it, then, is by towing it to the track on a flatbed or in a trailer.
