The crew cab pickup truck is one of the most popular vehicles in America, but this 1948 Chevrolet AK-Series COE truck, which has been converted into a custom crew cab four-door, is anything but ordinary.
This unique ’48 Chevy COE truck is currently listed for sale at Cruisin’ Classics in Columbus, Ohio. It started out life as a regular two-door Chevrolet COE truck, but was later lengthened and transformed into a custom four-door crew cab with a custom steel chassis, power disc brakes, four-link rear suspension and air ride. The builder, who worked on this project for more than six years, also swapped out the rather tired inline-six engine for a 454 cubic-inch Chevrolet Big Block – which should make this custom truck a bit more fun to drive, to say the very least. The massive 7.4L V8 is paired with a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission and nine-inch rear end.
Inside, the custom theme continues with bucket seats at all four corners, an aftermarket air conditioning system, power windows, a billet steering wheel and two-tone black and blue leather upholstery. Sharp-eyed readers may notice this truck doesn’t have any door handles. Rather than traditional lever handles, this truck uses electronic “poppers” located on the inside of the doors, contributing to the clean, uniform look of the exterior.
Speaking of the exterior, an abundance of custom bodywork has also been performed on this truck in addition to the custom crew cab. It now features a chopped roof, widened and flared fenders, a custom rear valance, shaved trim and other custom work, giving it a bespoke appearance that is sure to stand out at any car meet or show.
This custom Chevrolet COE, which is accumulated just over 20,000 miles since it was built, is listed for sale at Cruisin’ Classics for a pricy $129,995. That’s a lot of money for an old Chevy work truck, no matter how much custom work has been done to it, but we wouldn’t be shocked if some Chevy enthusiast was willing to pay that much for this unique creation.
