New Chevrolet Suburban HD Imagined In Rendering

Ford recently filed a trademark application to reserve the ‘Excursion’ name in the United States – fueling rumors that the Blue Oval was looking to bring back the legendary heavy-duty SUV.
While General Motors has not made any similar moves, there are plenty of GM fans out there who would love to see a redesigned Chevrolet Suburban HD.
Rendering artist Oscar V recently decided to use his talents to envision what a potential next-generation Chevrolet Suburban HD might look like if GM were to green light such a product. His creation is based on the new Chevrolet Silverado HD, incorporating a roofline where the pickup’s bed would normally be. Rather expectedly, the cabin section is fairly square and upright, giving this imaginary Chevrolet Suburban HD a boxy look that is very much like the now-defunct Ford Excursion’s.
This rendering also features one subtle design difference that we actually like. The headlights on the production Chevrolet Silverado HD are slanted inward towards the bottom, giving the truck a slightly meaner, more aggressive look. The artist wasn’t a big fan of this headlight design, however, so he straightened the headlights out and widened them at the base, giving the front fascia a burlier, more upright look.
If GM were to pull the trigger on a real new-generation Chevrolet Silverado HD, we imagine it would be offered with both the 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine and the 6.6L Duramax L5P V8 diesel engine. In the Chevrolet Silverado HD, the 6.6L L8T gasoline engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engine links up to an Allison-branded 10-speed automatic.
Let us know if this Chevrolet Suburban HD rendering is a hit or a dud in the comments down below. We should note that GM has not expressed any intention to put such a model into production before any readers get too excited about the prospect.

Problem with a Duramax Suburban HD would be price. Probably $80k in stripped form, and at that price you might as well get a loaded version which would easily be more than $100k.. Many say vehicles like a Duramax Suburban HD is just what GM should be building, but fact of the matter is very few would buy something like that new.
I’ve always said I would buy a Suburban HD3500 with a Duramax engine and a 10 speed Allison transmission it they ever made one. I would hope the the mileage would be similar to that of the the same size pick-up. However, the diesel Excursion didn’t last long so, GM might suffer a similar demise with the Suburban, who’s to say. I wonder how a Z71 HD Suburban would go over.
Live to dream.. the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban HD is lacking of something we don’t see often which is the engine that will make the Suburban HD truly into the beast it can be and that can be accomplished with the 650 hp LT4 supercharged 6.2L V8 because without the engine, it’s just a promise that never gets delivered.
Looks good, Base Price may be close to that of a well equipped Escalade.
I think they should absolutely start building 3/4 ton Suburban again. The sooner the better. My 2011 will not last forever.
great rendering of what it could look like.
I like the engine/trans options as well.
Suburban HD very desirable for outdoor families, farmers, and ranchers not to mention all the Sub HD’s serving the government. Trademarking the word “Excursion” suggests that Ford may have plans for its return.
One additional point. How about towing mirrors currently available for the 1500 Silverado
being made an option for the 2021 Suburban .
This would be an excellent upgrade for my Suburban 2500 4×4. I would look forward to adding another Suburban to my garage.
That one may barely fit in your garage based on how much taller it’s gotten.
Though i agree that GM needs to build a 2500 Burb again, the rendering above is hideous.
Taking the worst part of the new HD Silverado (quite possibly the worst thing GM is currently putting out) and grafting it onto a Suburban is NOT a good thing!
great make them tahoe and subs
This is just what I am looking for. Why has this not already happened.
Make this happen. Count me in for preorder
If the rendering becomes reality, I’m ready to place a 2022 order today. The red w/ black fender flares mirrors my 2000 Red 4×4 Suburban which I drive today. We purchased it new when our children were young and we can’t part with it. It’s been from one end of the country to the other. . My wife drives a 2012 Suburban Z71, so we’re a two Suburban family with no children. No doubt we’re ready for a third Suburban. . Make it happen. Make it red too.
They should definitely make this and a TAHOE HEAVYDUTY instead of making them more girly
