Future Chevrolet Impala Rendered

After decades of on-again, off-again production, the very last Chevrolet Impala was produced earlier this year at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly facility. While there are currently no plans to reintroduce the iconic nameplate, GM has brought the Impala back from the dead twice before, which begs the question – what might a future Chevrolet Impala look like?
Luckily, GM Authority reader Brandon L. DeJean is answering that question with a new rendering image. You may remember DeJean’s work from the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse rendering and 2021 Chevrolet Equinox rendering we covered previously, and now, he’s rendered up a future Chevrolet Impala.
From the off, we see that the front end bears similar styling cues as the new Chevrolet Blazer, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet Trailblazer RS, with an aggressively shaped front intake and black mesh grille punctuated by red RS badging. A polished center divider connects the two corner-mounted lighting elements, and sports a black Chevy Bow Tie badge.
Speaking of the lights, this future Chevrolet Impala rendering doesn’t appear to have the same forward-facing projector lights as the new Chevy Blazer and Trailblazer, both of which come with main lighting elements placed just below the narrow accent lights / daytime running lights. That said, it’s possible this artist creation incorporates ultra-thin LED projectors into the narrow housings.
Further details include large alloy wheels finished in black, as well as black trim bits for the door handles and window surrounds. The body style gets four-door coupe proportions, as well as a gently sloping roof line that falls gracefully into the trunk.
What are your thoughts on this future Chevrolet Impala rendering? Are you crossing your fingers that General Motors will once again resurrect the Chevrolet Impala nameplate? Yes, please! i want the Impala back! It should still be a bigger sedan and have some chrome trim too.
Yes loved it. Rear wheel drive using the Cadillac platform. Large V-8 option, can you say SS ?
Bring it back, just like the drawing. It looks beautiful.
It would be nice to see it lives on but not in a sporty Malibu kinda way but a rear wheel drive v8 kinda way
That rendering looks like the current gen Malibu. Do not bring the Impala back without v8 and coupe option and dont make it look like a Malibu
i think it is awesome! dodge charger is still selling in large numbers with very old tech but it looks macho, cool. there is market for both macho ss impala and lux impala. cars will make a come back but with toyota honda kia etc.
Not bad but GM is really missing out in the compact segment, I feel like having a future sedan smaller than the Malibu would sell better, but not sure. Things may change in the coming years.
Bring it back but let’s try a performance package ss is what I’m thinking it’s only fair.
please bring back the Impala in 2021 let’s don’t do away with this great car. love the large trunk and large interior. Make changes if you wish like a larger motor AWD option if you wish but please keep this car.
Needs more pics. Hard to get an idea with the one view here. Needs a side and rear shot.
don’t disagree, a large sedan must come back for the Chevrolet Brand . The rendering was interesting , not ,y cuo of tea
personally sopeaking . Its my view and I wrote to GM putting this firward also . Use the Camaro platform, extend the
wheelbase 7 to 9 inches or longer if need be, and rework as a four door sedan , roofline would have a bit higher but
the back seat would be roomy . Large trunk also . turbo engines for base and midrange and 6.2L v8 for top line and SS .
The big design change I suggested are reverse hinged rear door (like old Lincoln had) , witgh a center pillar .
that’d look very different and I think super cool . I’d make the base engine the 2.7 turbo 4 from silverado truck with
stop up engine being the 350 bhp turb0 3.0L SIDI V6 engine . 10 spd automatic and rear wheel drive . 17incher standard with a tire/wheel upgrade to 19 inchers . Nothing radical here, no 20’s, 22’s etc. Just s uper cool looking big family car/cruiser there.
People aren’t buying huge sedans. When they want bigger they go SUV.
Maybe at some point in the future, but for now the Impala has faded away along with it’s segment.
I think the latest model just got lost in the lineup. I own a 2015, and 4 out of 5 times people think it’s a Malibu. I cant blame them, because it looks like a damn Malibu. Especially if viewed from the side and rear. The design didnt do the car much justice. The round curved body and trunk do not match the more bold front end, and really leaves the impression of a smaller car. I didn’t realize how big the car was until I was inside it.
I dislike the rendering, it looks too much like everything else. I would have just updated the back of the car to match the boldness of the front, and added AWD as an option which its sister car on the same platform (Buick LaCrosse) had. Also would have had a wagon version of it. Then offered an SS version with a more potent Turbo V6.
I like all these ideas, especially the wagon part, but the platform should be rwd based. A front wheel based awd system isn’t going perform well with that much torque.
XTS V sport? Same platform, 400+lb-ft, twin turbo V6, 420+hp. FWD, not AWD.
Owned a 1996 impala for the same reasons every impala owner had one at that time. Large sedan. Easy to enter and exit. Powerful drivetrain. Unique look and stance. In 24 years apart from maintenance fixes etc the only part that failed was fuel pump. Was enticed when GM implied a new impala based on Australian platform was in the works. Great! That went by the wayside. Maybe now would be a good time to resurrect the impala ss rear wheel drive car and renew that nameplate with a deserving design and one that wouldn’t cost the earth. I believe the market would be there as it was in 1994-1996. Many of us not interested in suvs etc so come on GM. Market research.
Always drove a coupe or sedan. Wouldn’t own an SUV. Don’t like the way they handle. The lack of a mid to large sedan, by Chevy, forced me to buy a “so called” import. Leased a 2020 Accord Touring 2.0, and it’s a great car, with more Anerican content than what GM or Ford had to offer! I’d buy another Impala if they increase American content, and make it with performance and reasonable economy, like the Honda!
Love the look. Should be a rear wheel drive using maybe the Cadillac platform with large V-8 as an option. can you say SS ?
Rear wheel drive with a V-8 option using a Cadillac platform
Rear wheel drive V8 please.
I have owned a 08 Impala SS, and a 2014 Impala and a 2016 Impala. I also had two 59 Impalas and two 65 Impalas. I would by this Impala if they built it. I will soon buy a new car and if there is no Impala I will be looking at a Camry or a Accord. I would prefer a GM sedan .
Hard to tell the difference in all the newer cars. All out of the same cookie cutter.
Absolutely different from the models I’ve driven in the past, that version is aggressive and bad ass; I would purchase it if GM decided to make it a reality.
People leaving comments? This Impala is just a car, a GM overpriced rendering or image. Don’t get your shorts all tied up in a knot. All cars are way overpriced for what they are. Have they REALLY changed in the last 30 years? NO. Cars are like Doritos chips…you can get them anywhere.
