We recently had some dealer friends asking about an “illuminated mirror Chevrolet emblem” offered as an optional extra for the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban full-size SUVs. We’d never seen that option offered before, so we did some digging and found something interesting.
What we uncovered is that the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban will come with a unique side view mirror accessory that projects the Chevrolet emblem, offered as a dealer-installed option.
As explained by Chevrolet spokesman Mike Ofiara, this optional accessory snaps onto the underside of the side mirrors, acting as a puddle light the projects the Chevy Bow Tie emblem onto the pavement next to the door.
This is the first time Chevy has offered such a feature. Although the brand has offered puddle lamps in the past, they’ve never projected the Bow Tie logo.
According to dealer sources, GM Authority has learned that the accessory will be a $135 option for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, and requires up-level mirrors with puddle lamps. The feature will be optional on LT, RST, and Z71 trim levels, and standard on Premier and High Country trims. The feature will not be available on the base-level LS.
For 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban LT, RST, and Z71 trim levels, the option also requires the Luxury Package, which includes the following:
- Driver Alert Package content
- HD Surround Vision
- Rear Pedestrian Alert
- Memory settings
- Outside heated power-adjustable, power-folding, body-color mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming and integrated turn signal indicators
- Power tilt and telescopic steering column
- Automatic heated steering wheel
- Second row outboard heated seats
- Second row power 60/40 split-folding bench seats
- Third row power 60/40 split-folding bench seats
This unique mirror light accessory is the third branded illumination feature for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. The first two accessories include the Chevrolet script and Chevrolet logo in the tail lamps, while the second is an illuminated Chevrolet Bow Tie emblem (Glow Tie), which we have covered previously.

I have that added to my 2009 Chevy Equinox at less than $10 per light. It was added on the doors, not on the mirrors. My 2014 Ford Fusion does have those puddle lights on its mirrors as a standard feature.
Yeah I know right been out for a while mustang has it too this guy writing the article is all excited lol old news right lol
Umm… the article doesn’t say puddle lights with emblems are a new idea. The author stated pretty clearly that, “Although the brand has offered puddle lamps in the past, they’ve never projected the Bow Tie logo.” You are on a GM news site; this is an article reporting Chevy news and this confuses you?
Perhaps you can point out the part where “this guy writing the article is all excited”… that is, unless your goal was just to drive-by agitate.
Chevrolet anticipates that the 2018 Traverse’s 98.5 cubic feet of max cargo room and 33.7 inches of third-row legroom will provide best-in-class utility and comfort. Additional convenience features include an available bowtie puddle lamp to help illuminate
it’s on the 2018 traverse bowtie puddle light so it’s not new
Wrong. And your attempt at deception is amateurish. You selectively truncated your quote thereby omitting some clarifying words. Yes, the current Traverse has what is being referred to as a ‘bowtie puddle lamp’ but it is not a puddle lamp at all in purpose. Allow me to explain and clean up your dishonest mess.
I tracked down your source. Here is the sentence you quoted—-but in its entirety: “Additional convenience features include an available bowtie puddle lamp to help illuminate where a foot should be placed to activate the hands-free power liftgate”. It is a visual target for the hands-free, rear liftgate opening function. Not a puddle lamp.
Google it. “Puddle lights are lights that are designed to shine down from the rear view mirror and illuminate the ground below the vehicle.” As opposed to providing a target for your wagging foot. Got it?
Nice try. Actually, it wasn’t really but I feel a tad sympathetic. So, nice try kid.
Lhere we go a nobody who wants to argue online bye hater
Omg are you serious it’s a puddle lamp but not a puddle lamp at all ok so if you Google what is a puddle lamp
Puddle Lights. Puddle lights are lights that are designed to shine down from the rear view mirror and illuminate the ground below the vehicle. Puddle lights can be added to any vehicle and are very easy to install.
Says illuminate the side mirrors (and) the ground below the vehicle which it does on the traverse so I’m done arguing with you cuz it’s getting pretty bow the article said the brand never used puddle lamps before in which they did all I was saying if your gonna say it’s not on the side mirrors so it’s not a puddle lamp please I know the virus has people inside there house with nothing to do so I didn’t use any periods so you could correct my grammar and punctuation it’s a puddle lamp but not a puddle lamp at all which is it
A puddle lamp is so you don’t step in a puddle so if your putting your foot on the ground underneath the car where a puddle would be so you don’t step in a puddle when you said your self a puddle lamp illuminates the ground below the vehicle I’m.pretty sure it does just that
Can someone recommend Leggings? Thanks x
