Watch The 2021 Chevy Suburban, 2021 Tahoe Second-Row Seat Fold & Drop: Video

The 2021 Chevy Suburban and 2021 Tahoe debuted back in December as all-new, next-generation vehicles sporting a long list of updates and upgrades, including a new cabin design featuring second- and third-row seating that now folds down more easily than before. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the feature with the following GM Authority video spotlight.

Hit play on the video below and watch as the second-row captain’s chair folds down, dropping to the vehicle floor in the process. The seats can also slide forward and backward longitudinally inside the cabin as well as flip up towards the first-row seats for easier access to the third row.

The 2021 Chevy Suburban and 2021 Tahoe both ride on the GM T1 platform, and come equipped with a new independent multilink rear suspension. Not only does this suspension setup improve vehicle handling and ride quality, but also allows for a flatter, lower load floor, which makes loading people and cargo much easier.

With the lower load floor, the 2021 Chevy Suburban and 2021 Tahoe seats were engineered to not only fold, but also “drop” or “squat” to keep the cargo space flat when the third- and second-row seats folded.

The flatter load floor also provides more cargo capacity thanks to greater vertical measurements. As we covered in our previous Dimensional Comparisons articles for the 2021 Chevy Suburban and 2021 Tahoe, both models offer an extra 23 cubic-feet of cargo space behind the first row, an extra 16.2 cubic-feet of cargo space behind the second row, and an extra 1.8 cubic-feet of cargo space behind the third row.

What’s more, the flatter load floor provides more space for passengers thanks to an extra 10 inches of third-row legroom. And, as mentioned above, the second-row seats can now slide for the first time in the 2021 Chevy Suburban and 2021 Tahoe, moving either forward or back by approximately 5.5 inches (140 mm). Sliding the seat back enables more legroom for passengers in the second row, while sliding it forward gives third row passengers more space, as needed.

  1. Did I just watch a video on the new Suburban/Tahoe, or a 70’s porn movie?
