Real Life Hot Wheels GMC School Bus Is A Strange Way To Spend $90k: Video

For most kids, seeing the school bus come clambering down the street on a Monday morning is not a very welcome sight. We dreaded the arrival of the bus most weekday mornings when we were young, but our attitude toward education may have been a bit better if this custom GMC Vandura lowrider served as our way of getto and from elementary school.

This custom Hot Wheels inspired school bus is currently for sale at Gateway Classic Cars’ Detroit showroom. It started out life as a regular Blue Bird-bodied GMC Vandura 2500 short bus, but has since been converted into a hot rod-style lowrider with air suspension, aftermarket Torqthrust alloy wheels and, most importantly, a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine. Some faux velocity stacks integrated into the stubby bus hood let onlookers know this is no regular school runabout, as well.

This bad bus also features a custom front lip extension and, rather oddly, an interior filled with candy machines. We imagine this would be a hit at local car shows, especially if the candy machines were full, though local law enforcement might become a bit wary of a privately owned bus offering free candy to the local kids.

While this build is unique and seems well executed, it doesn’t come cheap. Gateway Classic Cars is asking a rather ridiculous $90,500 for it – a huge amount for an old school bus with some suspension modifications and candy machines tossed in the back. We suppose the 350 V8 swap adds some value to the build, but not nearly enough to warrant such a high price tag, in our opinion.

We should also add that this bus is listed as a 1985 GMC G2500, but it’s actually wearing a 1990s era Chevrolet fascia/body. The underlying chassis may have started out underneath an ’85 GMC before having the newer school bus body dropped on top of it, but we’re only guessing, as the dealer ad does not indicate why it’s listed as a 1985 model year vehicle.

  1. Lol, GMC steering wheel, Chevy Bowtie in the front. I know they’re the same vehicle, but it’s still funny.

  2. For mostly kids, viewing our school bus in the parking lot on a Monday is not a really good scene. I have bestonlinewritingservice.com for her. We feared the arrival of the bus most in the daytime when we were young, but our attitude toward education may have been a little better.
