No Issues With Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Towing Mirror Availability

We recently received a few letters from readers claiming that they could not get a hold of the new extended view tow mirrors offered for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. As such, we did a little digging, and found that these new mirrors are indeed available.

We called a few different Chevrolet dealers, and according to the parts department representatives we spoke to, the extended view tow mirrors for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are available to order now. The part number we were provided is 84731241, and the price we were quoted is $271.

What’s more, we talked with several General Motors representatives as well, all of whom confirmed that there are no issues with the availability of the new towing mirrors.

To note, customers can acquire the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 towing mirrors one of two ways – either building them onto a new truck from the factory, or buying and installing them after the fact.

As a reminder, Chevrolet originally announced new towing mirrors for the all-new fourth-gen 2019 Silverado 1500, but the feature didn’t make it to production until the 2020 Silverado 1500. The mirrors are taller and vertically oriented, providing a greater field of vision – perfect for those drivers with a trailer hitched up in back. A heating function is offered for the upper portion of the mirror, and the lower half gets a convex reflector that makes it easier to see in locations that would otherwise be blind spots. The new towing mirrors also feature integrated turn signals, auxiliary lighting, and clearance lamps.

The mirrors look quite similar to those on the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD, including a chunky, three-tier design, and a wide arm that swings out from the pickup’s body. However, the mirrors offered for the 2020 Silverado 1500 utilize a different mount than those on the HD pickup.

  4. I just purchased a 2020 GMC AT4 with towing mirrors on it and I had to go about 500 mi out to find one. I try to build a brand new one at my local GMC dealership and the ordering system would not let you add the towing mirrors on anything except the Denali.

  6. These mirrors have been on chevy trucks for more than ten years. They were available for my 02 Silverado back when I ordered it from the factory. But a few years later I was able to buy a pair on eBay and put them on with no problems.
The only difference now is these new ones allow you to slide them in and out with a motor instead of having to do it
    manually.

  7. These trucks seem to be getting bigger. My 2020 Silverado barely fits in my garage. These mirrors sound good. But can they install them with the electrical Parts inside, for the driver to pull both in? And how much $ for the dealer to do that? Is that $271 for both ?

  14. I called my dealer and was quoted over 1200.00 for towing mirrors for my 2020 Chevy LT Trail Boss, plus the dealer said they would need the truck two days to install. I have the advanced trailer package on this truck, am not sure why GM does not include the mirrors in that package.
