Buick recently released a video via its YouTube channel showing Buick Encore GX owners how to use Automatic Park Assist. This feature is optional on the Buick Encore GX, so this video won’t be relevant to all owners of the new subcompact premium crossover.
To enable this function, the driver must hit the ‘Automatic Parking Assist’ button located just ahead of the gear select lever in the center console. The vehicle will then begin to search for a suitable parallel parking spot in the right, though the user can switch the parking orientation to the left using the touchscreen. They can also change the parking functionality to a perpendicular parking spot if they are not parallel parking, though this feature is most often used in parallel parking situations, as more drivers find it difficult to execute such a maneuvre on their own.
When the vehicle locates a suitable, properly size parking spot, the driver can stop the vehicle just ahead of the spot and put the vehicle into reverse. The car will then angle itself into the spot, though the driver should be prepared to brake if, by chance, the system’s automatic brake assist function does not detect the vehicle to the rear.
Check out the video embedded below for a better idea of how Automatic Park Assist with Braking works on the 2020 Buick Encore GX.
