GM China Sales Decrease 43 Percent In First Quarter 2020

GM China sales decreased 43 percent to 461,716 units during the first-quarter of 2020. Severely affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, sales decreased at all five GM brands offered in the Chinese the market – Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Wuling and Baojun.

General Motors does not provide individual sales performance of its models in China, but we do have the following information:

SAIC-GM Sales – Q1 2020

First-quarter 2020 sales results at SAIC-GM – GM’s primary joint venture in China responsible for Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac operations – decreased 45.8 percent to 207,318 units:

Buick sales decreased 42.5 percent to 129,587 units

  • Preorders for the all-new GL8 Avenir luxury MPV family, which recently added four-seat and six-seat variants, commenced in March

Chevrolet sales decreased 55 percent to 50,927 units

Cadillac sales decreased 40 percent to 26,804 units

  • The CT4 sedan began to launch in China, giving Cadillac its strongest and most complete lineup ever, enabling it to compete in all key luxury segments

SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales – Q1 2020

First-quarter 2020 sales results at SAIC-GM-Wuling – GM’s other Chinese joint venture responsible for Wuling and Baojun brands – decreased 41 percent to 254,398 units:

Baojun sales decreased 51.5 percent to 82,189 units

  • The brand revealed next E300 all-electric model in March
  • Baojun is transforming into a more youthful, connected and intelligent brand to appeal to rising consumer aspirations

All-new Baojun E300 Debuts

Wuling sales decreased 34 percent to 172,209 units

  • Maintained its leadership in the mini-commercial vehicle segment
  • The brand revealed its first all-electric model in March

  4. Thought it would have been worse than that . But the Government is busy trying to hide all of their deceased population while 11 million people weren’t allowed to go anywhere.
    Arresting their top scientist to shut him up and then the poor soul dies of the virus he was trying to warn his country about . A true communist party, thanks for the virus China .
