The first units of the next-gen C8 Corvette have only begun to trickle out for delivery, and the inevitable go-faster variants are currently waiting in the wings ahead of an official announcement from Chevrolet. However, that isn’t stopping some dealers from taking reservations for the forthcoming C8 Corvette Z06.
Bachman Chevrolet in Louisville, Kentucky, is one such dealer. According to dealer sales consultant Mike Davenport, also known as the popular YouTuber Chevy Dude, interested buyers can now make an initial deposit to secure their spot in line for the upcoming mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
“Now taking Z06 deposits,” reads the Louisville Chevy Dude website. “Fully refundable at any time. No questions asked.”
The website also lays out the five-phase buying process to acquire the new Vette, which starts with a $1,000 deposit required to secure a spot on the C8 Corvette Z06 purchase list. Phase two follows the official pricing and options announcement from Chevrolet, with customers emailed an order checklist to spec theirs to taste.
Phase three is the order process, with orders placed in the order that deposits were received. “This is a very slow process,” reads the Chevy Dude website. “It could be months before your order is placed after your initial reservation deposit.” The website also states that when the order is placed, the customer will get a GM order number, and will be required to make an additional $4,000 deposit to move the order to 1100 status. At this point in the process, the deposit becomes non-refundable.
Phase four and five include informational updates in the build process for the customer, followed by delivery. The website also indicates that customers can take part in the RC8 Museum Delivery Experience, or elect for direct delivery, if desired.
While the new C8 Corvette Z06 has yet to be officially announced, we have gathered a fair amount of intel on it over the last year or so. Some of the most important news is that the new go-faster Vette will mount a naturally aspirated V8 derived from the atmospheric, flat-plane-crank 5.5L DOHC ‘eight found in the competition-spec Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.
We’ve also exclusively reported that the C8 Corvette Z06 will feature a massive rear wing. Further upgrades over the standard C8 Corvette will include a more robust suspension and brake package.
It’s also important to note that the go-faster next-gen Vette debut may have been delayed as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I’m sorry, this is ridiculous. Chevrolet has built and shipped a relative handful of C8 Stingrays, because of the UAW strike, and Covid-19. Many 2020 Stingray orders will be pushed into 2021 model year production. Dealers like this need to reign it in, even if their Corvette sales rep is a wannabe YouTube star. What’s next? A waiting list for the flying C9 Corvette?
Agreed, this guy is annoying as ever! Who autographs their own car? The Chevy Dude.
Why is Chevy dude taking $1,000 deposits for a Z06 when his waiting list is over 400 long?
He will never get close to half that many allocations.
The Chevy Dude is bad ass
I am actually towards the top of this list, but got lucky and now own a C8.
Now I am not sure I even want or need anything faster.
