Chevrolet Bolt EV Recalled In Canada For Rear Door Issue

Certain examples of the 2019 and 2020 model year Chevrolet Bolt EV has been recalled in Canada due to an issue that may cause the rear doors to swing open while the vehicle is in motion and/or prevent the inside rear door handles from working.
The defect: according to Transport Canada, the rear window on affected models rubs against a cable that holds the rear doors shut, which can wear it out. If the cable becomes too worn down, it may snap.
The hazards: if the cable becomes too worn or snaps, the rear door may swing open while the vehicle is in motion. A damaged cable may also cause the inside door handle not to work, the recall notice indicates.
The fix: GM service centers will inspect and replace the inside door handle cable in both of the rear doors. These repairs will be done at no cost to the owner.
Affected components: rear door handle cables.
Affected vehicles:
- 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV
- 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV
Number of affected vehicles: a total of 153 vehicles are believed to be affected by this problem in Canada. A similar recall has not yet been issued in the United States.
Owner’s should: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealership for repairs.
