Competitive Sales Comparison
Chevrolet Blazer sales experienced healthy growth in Q1 2020. While the 632 percent growth seems impressive, observers should note that the Blazer was in early stages of launch during the first quarter of 2019, so volumes were naturally limited during that time, resulting in the astounding year-over-year sales jump.
Notably, the Camaro-inspired SUV jumped in the sales ranks, moving from ninth place in Q1 2019 to seventh place in Q1 2020. It was outsold by the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota Highlander, the Blazer’s larger brother – the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Edge and Honda Passport.

Narrowing down the segment to only midsize crossovers with two rows of seating, the Blazer was outsold by the Jeep Grand Cherokee (by around 23,000 units) and the Ford Edge (by about 7,000 units). Even so, the Chevrolet crossover closed the gap with both rivals, as both posted declines in sales volume. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Santa Fe sold about 2,000 less units than the Blazer, the Nissan Murano sold about 7,000 units less, and the Honda Passport was roughly 15,000 units behind the Blazer.

The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet Blazer sales performance during Q1 2020 is representative of a model that has completed its launch, with sufficient availability at the retail level while gaining recognition and demand in the marketplace.
Looking ahead, we expect sales of all vehicles, including Blazer sales, to decline significantly in the near-term future, as long as production continues to be impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. In fact, Blazer production has stopped, as GM has suspended all production in North America, including at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico that assembles the Blazer. However, sales should trend upward once the pandemic begins to subside, production resumes, and life – along with the economy at large – begins to return to more normal levels.
In addition, the Blazer will continue to face competition from all-new offerings like the new Honda Passport as well as internal competition from its corporate cousin, the refreshed 2020 Acadia.

It is a beautiful vehicle. However, I won’t buy one because it is primarily made in Mexico. Next time a need a new vehicle I will opt for another Canyon/Colorado to replace my current one because it is “mostly” made in the United States.
Make sure that your next keyboard and smartphone are also made in the U.S.
Outsold some serious players on this list.
I’d agree… some of them are quite long in their life cycles though especially the Jeep GC which is still a fantastic vehicle.
That said GM has clearly seen a niche that it could uniquely fill, that of a Camaro CUV on an existing platform. While it is a no brainer, I’m still surprised they went out on that limb, it says there are some dreamers able to influence and move the barge that is GM…
I would like to see them put the 3.6tt from the XTS v sport into some of their newer CUVs. Mainly the blazer and all of their Cadillac CUVs. The blazer has the looks, now it just needs an engine to match. 410 hp and 369 tq would fit the blazer quite nicely. A man can dream though.
And THATS one of the REAL problems… we only get “ehh” from GM with the exception of the Vette. Everything else is underwhelming and not special. I just read on Cadillac Society that there will not be a V6 for the XT4… I mean why not? Seriously? And I don’t care that others might not offer a 6 who cares about other mfrs, we want Cadillac’s to be gorgeous, luxurious, and strong… GM Sr Mgt is absolutely pathetic…
CUVs are selling well. There really is no reason to not have performance versions. The performance versions usually are the ones that would bring people in. (If they actually started marketing better) Even if they are unable to pay the money for the performance version. It could lead to a sale of one the lesser models.
GM as whole is heading to where Toyota was for a long time. Bland vehicles with Just good enough performance. Only few differences is that GM is still making a fun to drive car the Corvette. But they do not have the reliability like Toyota did or still does. While there Camaro is essentially on it’s way out, with the other two alpha chassis siblings. Joining the hot at the time CT6 and CT6 v.
One look at the new Chevrolet Blazer and the first thing that comes to mind is Camaro as this vehicle has something for everyone and has flexibility that the Camaro can’t match.

Where are you mouth breathers now?
I absolutely love it for just one reason. I have a Camaro now & want to move into a CUV/SUV but hate the same old egg shaped styles. I feel like I’m in a Camaro on steroids when I get in one or see one. It will be my next vehicle
