Cadillac XT5 And XT6 Feature Unique Bose Speaker Grille Design

When it comes to luxury vehicles, it’s the fine details that make the difference. Things like contrasting stitching, thick premium carpets and metal trim all combine to add an extra layer of refinement and remind the owner why they spent that little bit of extra money for a higher-end vehicle.

One such example of this on the Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 crossover is the Bose speaker grilles. In many non-luxury vehicles, speaker grilles are often plastic and painted the same color as the interior trim or upholstery to conceal them as much as possible. However, in the XT5 and XT6, the speaker grilles included with the optional Bose Performance Series audio system have a brushed metal finish and are located in an area on the doors that put them directly in the passengers’ sight.

The speaker grilles include a series of small holes that get increasingly larger as the pattern works its way to the center of the grille. The holes are about 1 mm in size in the center and narrow down to 0.6 mm at their smallest size. Bose says the grille design helps improve the audio quality of the speaker, though they are also designed to look good, of course.

“Remarkably thin and light, [the speaker grilles] transport sound more efficiently,” the audio company says. “Even the smallest details – like the refined Bose speaker emblem – are designed to reinforce the exclusiveness and feeling of luxury that pervades the vehicle interior.”

The Bose Performance Series audio system for the Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 is only offered with the Platinum Package on both models. It includes 14 speakers and also utilizes advanced Bose audio technology such as AudioPilot, which automatically adjusts the audio settings to drown out road noise. It also uses a technology called Centerpoint, which converts two-channel sound into multiple channels, along with Active Sound Management, a technology that works to cancel out other obtrusive noises in the cabin.

The Bose Performance Series audio system is available on the Cadillac CT5 sedan as well, where the same high-end metal speaker grilles are also present. The standard audio system on the XT5, XT6 and other current Cadillac vehicles is a less powerful and less advanced Bose eight-speaker system.

You trolls are going blind from all of your Hating
    Ah huh
So lose your minds and go far king crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya ya

Not the exact lyrics, but you’ll never listen to the song the same way again.

      1. I’m actually referring to the Audio system itself. How does it sound? Can anyone compare it to other high-end factory audio systems? I’ve not had the chance to check it out myself.

  3. Mercedes has been producing the Burmeister System for years and premiered these types of grille…. GM is just mimicking others… it would be nice if Cadillac could be a leader and innovator and make “gotta have” vehicles vs slightly nicer versions of lesser vehicles.

While the CT4/CT5 are exclusive to Cadillac the platform is now approaching 10 years old, though recently upgraded. It will be interesting to see how GM handles the upcoming EV onslaught as its likely every single vehicle will ride the exact same platform but with greater ranges and certain tweeks. Thats why they’re so gung ho on EV’s. Gone will be multiple engines and transmissions, fuel systems, etc… ALL their vehicles will be on the same platform except trucks in all likelihood.

      1. No kidding; thank you. This is our second CT6. SuperCruise is extraordinary. And, oh, yes, that Bose system is something else, too.

    2. Yes mine does too… but the CT6 doesn’t have the patterned holes in them like ones described here.

  5. Got new xt5 2020 P.L. 3.6.
The sound system with its “14 speakers” is not much better then 6 speakers at Chevrolet Spark we have!
Any Ebay’s car speaker 25-40$ would do much better sound or might be that the system itself is a poor Chinese made.
Searching how to replace the whole system.
