These days, offering the latest and greatest infotainment features is critical, and now, Cadillac is staying ahead of the curve by offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the Cadillac XT4 crossover.
According to a recent report from our sister publication, Cadillac Society, the Cadillac XT4 was originally on track to receive wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the 2021 model year, but complications that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic have potentially pushed back adoption of the feature to the 2021i (2021 interim) or 2022 model year.
As we’ve covered previously, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the delay of several other key GM launches, including the debut for the the Cadillac Lyriq EV crossover, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, the GMC Hummer EV, and possibly future variants of the C8 Corvette. The upcoming 2021 model refresh for the Chevrolet Equinox has also been pushed back to the 2022 model year.
When wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto do eventually make it to the Cadillac XT4, they will provide a wireless connection between the device in question and the vehicle infotainment system, resulting in a more streamlined user experience. Paired with the XT4’s inductive charging feature, which was offered at the vehicle’s introduction for the 2019 model year, the user experience will be completely wire-free with regard to smartphone usage.
Although wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are currently unavailable with any Cadillac model, the feature will be offered with the all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade as standard, and is expected to make it to offer Cadillac nameplates shortly thereafter.
Elsewhere in the General Motors stable, we find wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included with the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which is the first GM model to offer the feature. In addition to the Escalade, XT4, and Trailblazer, other GM models to offer the feature will include:
- 2021 Chevrolet Camaro
- 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2021 Chevrolet Suburban
- 2021 Chevrolet Corvette
- 2021 Buick Encore GX
- 2021 GMC Yukon / Yukon XL
