During the month of April 2020, Buick Encore discount offers reduce the price of select models by $4,500, while a second, separate offer includes interest-free financing for up to seven years. Many automakers have been offering such low-interest financing in an effort to alleviate buyers facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shoppers should also note that, unlike recent offers, this month’s Buick Encore incentives are available to all buyers, rather than being exclusive to non-GM owners, otherwise referred to as competitive owners.
The Incentive
Nationwide Buick Encore discount offers during the month of April 2020 are as follows:
- Featured Retail Offer: $4,500 customer cash
- Excludes base 1SV trim level
- Featured Finance Offer: 0 percent APR for 84 months
- Excludes base 1SV trim level
- Featured Lease Offer: $252 per month for 39 months
- Applies to Encore FWD Preferred
- For current eligible lessees of 2015 model year or newer select GM vehicles
- Ultra-low mileage lease with 10,000 miles per year
- $0 first month’s payment
- $0 security deposit
- $0 due at signing (after all offers)
Interested parties should not that all of the above offers will be valid through April 30th, 2020. Furthermore, until June 30th, 2020, General Motors is offering special vehicle discounts for first responders and healthcare workers on the frontlines of the battle against the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The headlining Buick Encore discount actually makes the starting price of a Sport Touring model more affordable than a non-discounted base Encore 1SV model. For reference, here are the 2019 and 2020 Buick Encore starting MSRPs by trim level, which include the $995 destination freight charge:
2019:
- Encore (1SV) – $24,195
- Preferred (1SB) – $25,595
- Sport Touring (1SH) – $26,795
- Essence (1SL) – $30,295
2020:
- Encore (1SV) – $24,195
- Preferred (1SB) – $25,595
It’s worth noting that Buick Encore discount offers were much more generous throughout the majority of 2019. The most worthwhile offers came in the fourth quarter, starting with the 20 percent discount in October before growing to 22 percent off in November, and finally a whopping 25 percent in December. Relative to these offers, incentives during the first quarter of 2020 are a bit conservative. That said, the automaker is offering rebates for both 2019 and 2020 model-year vehicles, versus just 2019 models.

About Buick Encore
The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover utility vehicle (CUV). It slots below the Envision as Buick's smallest CUV and rides on the GM Gamma 2 platform shared most directly with the Chevrolet Trax; a variant of the architecture is also shared with the Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo. The model was Buick's first offering in the subcompact (B segment) crossover space.
Having launched for the 2013 model year in the U.S., the Trax received a refresh for the 2017 model year that consisted of all-new front and rear fascias, an updated interior, a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and more.
The 2018 Buick Encore represents the fifth model year of the first-generation Encore. The model receives several changes including one new exterior color, a cabin ionizer, capless fuel fill, and several package-level changes. The 2019 Encore got two new exterior colors, the deletion of the Preferred II (1SD) and Premium (1SN) trim levels, and a new Safety Package called Safety Package II. The 2020 model is expected to be the last model year of the current, first-generation Encore before an all-new, second-generation model arrives.

I was thinking of getting an Encore. but now that I find out the Encore is made in Lying China. I’ll be trading up the Envision instead. Take that China!

I’m pretty sure the North American model final assembly takes place in South Korea, which is not part of China. I have family members and friends who have fought for and visited the Democratic nation of South Korea; They have nothing but the best things to say about the local people and culture. In 2019 they ranked as a more democratic nation than the United States, according to the Economist website.
