The 2020 GMC Sierra HD represents a complete overhaul and redesign with the fourth-generation model. In addition to the many changes and updates, including the switch to GM’s T1 platform and the addition of the all-new Sierra AT4 HD model, the nameplate also adds four new exterior color options to its palette: Pacific Blue Metallic, Brownstone Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, and Dark Sky Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Dark Sky hue.

51st shade of Gray.
The local GMC dealer has this in an AT4 LB, 3500 SRW. It is simply striking in its looks. I would own it in a second.
There are 2 problems I see with these articles regarding first looks at new paint colors. The first is that the vast majority of these “first look” articles are posted mon the after the new paint becomes available, so it’s hardly a true first look. The second is that they are using GMs stock photos, which are notoriously inaccurate in comparison to seeing them in the real world. A couple examples come to mind that really highlight this. The first is the Shadow Gray Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic paints. The stock photos make both appear significantly lighter than they actually are, so much so that the stock photo for Shadow Gray looks closer to the actual appearance of the Satin Steel. An older example is the old Laser Blue for the Colorado. The stock photos made it look like a fairly standard shade of blue, and there are a few customers who ordered one with that in mind, only to be upset that it was more of a “blurple,” meaning that it had a prominent blue-purple element to the paint.
I agree the paint looks way different than it does in these stock pics. The actually color reflected in this article is much better in real life than the pic.
The GJI paint code is called Shadow Gray on the Silverado.
I just purchased a Sierra with the Dark Sky paint. It is absolutely gorgeous! The brown interior is a perfect blend.
It looks black to me. I just saw the 2019 today
