  1. Has GM started charging extra for paint on its other vehicles or is that limited to Cadillac? I’m sure this is a similar color available on a Caddy?

    1. For Sure! I’m ordering a 2021 GMC and they are charging $595.00 US Dollars for the Red Quartz Tintcoat (I hope that is Burgundy) There has been a extra charge for certain colours for several years now. Don’t think I want a “Primer” coloured Vehicle.

  2. Oh, rapturous joy! Yet still another further different shade of grey from General Motors! How much? $1,295?

    2. Seriously… gray is so horrible. Recall the 70’s when Chevy did 2 tones…. such terrific combinations….

      1. I had a 1977 Chev Suburban and a 1993 Crew cab Dually in Blue and Gray. I loved the two tones too!

  3. The “Gunmetal” color that was offered a few years ago was very popular. One of the problems with gray is visibility. Our highways are a gray hue so without daytime running lights it is sometimes difficult to see a gray vehicle from a distance. I prefer a nice Burgundy.

    1. I’d prefer I didn’t stand out so much honestly, but I’d bet the cops will see that ugly grill coming a mile away, regardless of the color of the truck.

  4. OH GOOD – ANOTHER FUNERAL COLOR

  5. Looks a lot like Stealth Gray of a few years ago.

  6. When are they going to redesign the ugly front?

    1. I was going to say “why don’t they paint that gray right over the grill too” but I think you covered that.

  7. If you are not a fan of the Chevrolet front Grill, order the High Country option or buy the GMC which is what I plan to do.

  8. Unique, exciting, good looking. Color selection is not a GM strong hold. Let FoMoCo and Chrysler lead the way.

  9. One of the problems is that dealers tend to order mostly Black and White rather than other popular colours. I understand for commercial sales white is number one but in my opinion RVer’s tend to opt for colours to match their rigs. I plan on ordering the Red Quartz Tintcoat (Burgundy) to match my 5th Wheel Striping and the SLE Trim as I don’t like Leather and too much Chrome on my future GMC Dually Crew Cab. We all have choices to make and the good thing is we can.

  10. OK but you miss the entire main point – You may have choices but I and many others do not – a choice between funeral colors is not a choice. Get some women in there to design real COLORS and I and many others would buy a new car again. Funny how anyone considering buying a car drift to the only faux color available – red or burgandy. BORING. Check out all of the colors available in the 50’s and 60’s. Some are over the top but THERE is a REAL choice. The biggest eye appeal – or lack of – on any car is the COLOR. If burgundy is ok with you, fine. Even the red’s and burgundys have that clear coat wispy far away glossy look to them,. Not for me. Old school? Maybe. But I’ll buy another car when anyone comes out with something other than funeral colors. Cheers

    1. They sell cars in the colors that people will buy. If you find yourself wanting colors that just aren’t available, it’s because you’re the one with taste that doesn’t match the current trends.

I think part of this is that people are viewing cars more and more as an appliance. Most people don’t buy yellow or bright red appliances.

  11. Bingo !! Current color “trends” are not trends, they are colors that appeal to the manufacturers because they are cheaper to produce. Funeral colors that are forced upon us. I disagree with you that my taste is in the minority. Just check the internet and see the complaining about all the crappy colors that are available. However I will agree with you that a lot of people view cars as a necessary appliance now. Cheers… Too much time wasted on this.

    1. People on the internet complaining are usually in the minority.
If you believe the people on the internet are the majority, we’d all be driving manual transmission regular cab pickups painted bright red.

  12. Hi Richard,
If you were ordering a new vehicle today from any one of the manufacturers, What colour would you choose. I agree with you about availability especially with the price we are paying for new vehicles these days. I was a teenager in the late sixties when Chrysler offered the wildest colours that I ever saw. Still I ordered my Hemi Road Runner in “RED”! Wish I still had it!. Regards.
