With chiseled good looks a number of performance-flavored aesthetic details, the 2020 Cadillac CT5-V has what it takes to impress. Now, we’re taking a look at the sport sedan’s lovely lines dressed in white and black in the following GM Authority Photo Gallery.
This particular 2020 Cadillac CT5-V is finished in Summit White paint, one of two paint colors offered at no extra cost. Like the CT5 Sport, the CT5-V comes with a host of complementary details to help it stand out from the base-model Luxury trim and comfort-focused Premium Luxury trim, including a V-Series grille insert with a tight black mesh design. The lower fascia also gets extra black detailing.
The profile reveals additional dark accents for the window trim (also known as Daylight Opening, or DLO) and rocker extensions. The door handles are also body-colored, unlike the bright accents of the Premium Luxury trim.
Critically, this 2020 Cadillac CT5-V is equipped with optional 20-inch (50.8 cm) painted alloy wheels with a Gloss Black finish (RPO code SSJ). Pricing is set at $2,350 when configuring the vehicle from the factory, although the wheels are also available as an accessory, with pricing depending on the dealer. The wheels are wrapped in 255/35ZR20 all-season run-flat tires from the factory. The CT5-V’s standard wheel sizing is set at 19 inches in diameter.
The rear end features a two-tone treatment for the lower fascia section as well as quad exhaust tips, gray-tinted tail lamp lenses, dark trunk lid trim, and a faux diffuser element.
Motivation is sourced from GM’s twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY engine, which is rated at 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. It also has a nice snarl when it revs.
A 10-speed automatic transmission handles the cog swaps, while RWD is standard, and AWD is optional. Fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control dampers are also standard.
For those buyers desiring even more performance, the upcoming Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is sure to provide exactly that. Unfortunately, the new Blackwing sedans have been delayed as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I have to admit….
That does look really good.
Sweet ride
Absolutely beautiful sedan
I’m really tired of the “black wheel” treatment on everything these days. Makes them all look like police cruisers or service vehicles. I struggle to find anything appealing from that look. Apparently just me.
Good thing that Cadillac offers FIVE other wheel designs on the CT5 that are NOT black. Something for everyone.
Nice car! However, Cadillac should make this model a grand coupe similar to Mercedes and BMW. That would be nice!!!! But not that pricey
I wish I could stop trying to redesign the C-pillar in my head every time I see this car. I’m sorry, I just can’t help it. If it weren’t for that, it’s a good design with great proportions.
It really does look terrible in natural light. If it were made of glass, I think that would help it to better blend with the rest of the DLO. That’s not going to happen though. 😕
I’m with you. It’s like a wart that just ruins the overall look of the car. Every time, I look at the CT5, I hope it’s exterior design will grow on me but it doesn’t. The front end is done well but aft of the B pillar and the design goes downhill. For me to plunk down money on a ride, it’s gotta perform well but definitely look good too.
When viewing pics – including the ones in this article – I go so far as to block out the greenhouse aft of the B pillar and try to imagine alternate possibilities.
Over at 𝙜𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨 (do a google search for ‘𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗧𝟱 𝗖-𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿’), you’ll find a reader did a few really good renderings of alternative designs for that area of the vehicle. They are far better than what finally got approved and came to market.
It’s Cadillac’s own version of what BMW went through when Chris Bangle was head of the design. Those Bangle Butt BMWs were hideous beyond the C Pillar.
I wish I could see what others are giving compliments about. The car already lacks presence and beauty and black wheels and black out trim shown in the pics are not helping.
Perhaps the CT5-V BW will redeem the car with other winning attributes that will distract from or improve its exterior design.
It really doesn’t look that bad in person.
2 to many doors…
NO wheel treatment and/or color combination can help the hideous c-pillar.
Dan and waingro: How about black paint for the body to hide the c pillar and aluminum/chrome finish on wheels? Yes I am a 75 year old fart that carries his flip phone in his fanny pack. Be kind now!
I was hoping that would work but saw a black one at a dealer and sadly it does not. Normally I defend Cadillac but I have nothing for the CT5.
As a Cadillac aficionado, I want to love the car ,but cannot.
Its following, not leading, while ignoring traditional, iconic Cadillac design traditions .
C – Pillar, well …BAD .
The vertical light treatment needs more boldness ,and drop the horizontal addition ….no real Cadillac designer would add that.
The black wheels are bad on every car.
They look like lost hubcaps.
I cannot believe, the great Cadillac Motor Car Division, a heritage brand with a wealth of good will ,history ,legend branding, steps on itself.
Deep discounts coming to a dealer near you…nobody is standing in line for this.
Build a CADILLAC.of beauty ,and presence. and it will sell .
Quit copying BMW ,and Benz ….people will always go for the real thing..
Not Cadillacs version.
I agree…there are more problems with this car than just the C-pillar. The whole front end for example. There is not much on it that looks “Cadillac.”
On the other hand I love the CT6, especially the 2019 Sport. That is a great looking car and possibly a reliable car because they finally replaced the problematic 8-speed with the A10. But GM drops the CT6 after fixing it and launches the CT5. Briliant!
I agree with you. I love the CT6. It’s a great design that’s both clean, modern, and instantly recognizable as a Cadillac. It also has the scale and presence of a classic Cadillac. Likewise the proportions are perfect. Just a well done design and in my opinion, the best Cadillac in 40 years. Alas it’s dead but lest y’all think I just like to be down on Cadillac all the time, I have to say CT6 was very well done.
With so many dark colors for 2020, the bright white stands out.
Black wheels on a luxury car, of any color, have no class, no style.
They even look bad on sports cars.
NOT a fan of CT 5 especially low output 234 hp base engine Some interior appointments look cheap . Can’t underdtand why they axed ct6 after they got it perfected. And blew big bucks on short term black wing. Going totally electric especially now will signal the end !
Anybody want to take bets on how soon they drop the N-m torque badge LOL?
Has it lasted five minutes yet? That’s about how long they commit to anything.
Every time I see the CT5 name, I’m reminded that it’ll be both the “First Ever CT5” as Cadillac is fond of saying and the last ever CT5. After this, it either gets phased out entirely as GM drops sedans altogether, or it’s replaced with “The Fitst Ever Cadillac Fantastiq” mid-sized electric sedan, or it dies with the Cadillac brand itself. Either way, it’ll be the last.
Yes at some point the CT5 will be considered rare…but for the wrong reasons…many examples of “rare” cars that are far more attractive and unique than the CT5 but still not worth much!
Yep, I give the CT5 and CT4 a max of 4 years before they go the way of the extinction in N.A. except perhaps for China.
With all the bally-hoo about electrification and no plans for either vehicle to offer electric variants, as well as sedan sales being down, they’re not compelling offerings in their basic forms to survive long for this world.
It will be a way to save 50 cents per car in addition to other de-contented items such as glove box lights, dual rear seat map pockets, interior lighting etc. They do this with many of their cars after the first couple of model years.
I think the car – in person – looks really good. My preference would be black with the 19in matte black wheels and red calipers. The gloss black 20 in wheels here don’t look premium and the ride quality would suffer.
Well, I’m here…..never ever had considered a Cadillac in my life. This car looks amazing, it’s aggressive and looks so different from everything else. So close to ordering one, just pending a test drive of the V series which so far hasn’t landed at my local dealer. The superb reviews from the press are encouraging. I’m trading in a G70 that has proven to be a nice car, but not a terribly reliable or well built car with truly awful dealer service. Also, this will be my very first Domestic car purchase!
You won’t be disappointed, don’t listen to these guys who think they know Cadillac but bought their XTS from the Enterprise clearance lot, lol.
What’s wrong with your G70? I thought about getting one about a year but ended up changing my mind.
Name a car V series or Blackwing doesn’t make it a v or a black wing . This is old OEMs marketing trick that actually led them into bankruptcy.
CT5 is no Escalla looking for ct6 after this corona thing if i can find one. Big disappointment for me . Going to keep my 2000 Eldo And 2019 Cts for sure !
This is the most stunning American made car that I can remember. I am not a Cadillac person nor have I ever considered one until now. I believe I’ll be purchasing a CT5 Sport trim, ROYAL SPICE METALLIC.
CT5vwill be a flop
Just look at GM
It’s totally sad
They’re stuck in neutral
Not making cars and models that people really want
Corvette can’t save them
EVs won’t save them either – because they will end up making them with lackluster performance that no one will want
Plus given all the stuff going on with China they really need to pull out of China too
We don’t need to be funding China’s standard of living
Your solution? (Please don’t describe the Homermobile)… BTW Ford’s lineup and their $2 billion loss ain’t that hot either..
Shut up lol
This is a beautiful car. It is off to a good start and will do very well because they are offering packages that appeal to a wide variety of consumers. The C pillar looks great and gives the roof a very good look. The black wheels and black out trim is very popular in high perf versions of many cars. If you dont like it, Dont buy it but please do not sit here and bash a really great car. Caddy is evolving and has to or die. That is the nature of the beast. Not to mention that on all caddy’s now almost every car the SPORT (blackout version) is doing 50% of the takes. So it is a look that the consumer likes.
Just gonna jump on board with everybody trashing the black wheels on vehicles these days, as they look dull and cheap. Glad im not the only one that doesnt like them.
I would pay 2350 NOT to have those black wheels and rubber band tires! It cheapens the look of the entire car
