YouTube’s WhistlinDiesel has built up a rather large following for himself by using and abusing his fleet of diesel trucks in ways that truly no other truck enthusiast would. We’ve already seen him attach massive oversized wagon wheels to one of his Duramax trucks and even convert an old GMC Sierra into a diesel-powered off-road go-kart, but now he’s gotten himself a different kind of project to work on.
WhistlinDiesel recently acquired a 1957 GMC pickup from a seller he met through Facebook marketplace. Rather than immediately tear it up, as he has been known to do with some of his trucks, he is taking a bit more measured approach with his video content for the fully restored, mint condition ’57 GMC. In his second video featuring the vintage teal truck, he takes it to a nearby shop and has them install a set of 16-inch wide and 35-inch tall wheels on it. Wheels this big of course required a slight suspension lift as well.
While most people wouldn’t think to put 35-inch wheels and a lift kit on a vintage GMC pickup, we have to admit, it looks much better than we ever thought it would. There are some slight clearance issues when turning, with the large wheels scraping against the front bumper, but the wheels otherwise fit the truck quite well.
We’re eager (and a little worried) to see what else WhistlinDiesel has in store for his new-to-him ’57 GMC. We’re hoping he doesn’t tear it up like his other trucks, but let’s be honest, no vehicle is safe on this YouTube channel.

That’s as stupid as it gets…
Ruin a classic..
Reminds me of 195/50R15 on a lowered Nissan pick up…
That pickup is in what appears to be amazing shape. I would have passed on that set of mods personally, but the pickup itself looks outstanding. I think adding 4X4 would have been a better add, and lose the wide offset wheels.
Like truck, hate wheels. Those wheel bearings are not going to last long.
I personally hate that look where the wheels are too wide for the tires causing the wheel rim to stick out past the tire. One bad parking job and you will destroy a wheel on a curb. Makes me cringe just thinking about it!
I think this truck is awesome! I have 1957 GMC pickup that has a lot of nice patina. I’m going with a 6.2 LS with 6 speed and all wheel drive modified for drag racing and a little Ken Block (RIP) style driving.
So, what’s up with the sophomoric trolls on this forum that criticize this build? If it’s not what you prefer, or you think it is down right stupid it’s NOT NECESSARY to comment. Your opinion won’t change anything because nobody cares what you hate. Why waste your time demonstrating your social ignorance and immaturity? The better man or woman always looks for the best in everything. Or, says nothing,
