Police in Ridge Meadows, British Columbia are investigating a bizarre road rage-induced crash between a Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Bolt EV that was caught on cellphone video.
The video shows a dark-colored Chevrolet Cruze pulling up alongside a car as the driver begins to shout obscenities at the driver, presumably over a prior driving offense. Distracted by his tirade, the Cruze driver slams into the back of an innocent Chevrolet Bolt EV, which was sitting stationary at a traffic light behind a row of other cars.
According to Global News, the crash involved four vehicles in total. Considering the speed with which the Cruze hit the Bolt EV, it seems safe to assume the two other cars involved were hit by the Bolt after it was propelled forward. Ridge Meadows RCMP confirmed that a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the crash. Police would not confirm if the crash was the result of road rage, pending an investigation, however they did arrest one man at the scene.
The Chevrolet Bolt EV that was sacrificed in this crash is one of the rather odd Shock colored models. Shock was only offered for the 2019 model year and shockingly, it wasn’t carried over for the updated 2020 model. We can’t imagine many Bolt EVs left the factory painted Shock yellow to begin with, but now it seems as though the color just became even less common on the electric hatchback.
You can see how this rather senseless road rage incident played out in the video embedded below. The Cruze driver uses some choice language before slamming his reasonably priced compact into the back of the EV, so if you’re at the office or out in public, you may want to grab some headphones or turn down the volume before hitting play.

I bet the driver of that Bolt was shocked.
…I’ll show myself out
Agreed! But the other driver would have been equally since…
He Cruze’d right into a Bolt of lightning 😉
Well with that color he had no excuse not to see it easily if he had been looking forward.
What a Hoser Eh!
I’d like to know what happened before they started filming. While the Cruze driver was clearly an a-hole, I strongly suspect the guys in the car filming were also.
Takes two to tango.
The person filming the scene (and the victim of the verbal assault) was driving a Ford Fusion with the Sony entertainment system.
Good eye! How could you tell!?
Definitely a total. I’d love to see his insurance increase.
After an incident like that, he’ll be lucky if any insurance company will want to insure him.
