Car enthusiasts often tout the importance of having a car that was “built, not bought,” as there’s a certain degree of pride that comes from building your own race car or classic car as opposed to buying one pre-built from a dealership or tuning shop.
Enthusiasts who agree with this sentiment may be interested in the 2020 LS Engine Sweepstakes currently being hosted by Holley and Prestige Motorsports. The winner of the sweepstakes will take home a twin-supercharged 7.0L LS V8 engine – giving them the perfect powerplant to drop in their work-in-progress project car.
This engine is wearing too many good parts to list them all, but those interested in entering the sweepstakes should know it is based around a 427 cu. in. Dart LS Iron Block and features forged pistons and rods, a Holley Terminator ECU, Edelbrock fuel rails, 1000cc injectors and, most importantly, twin TorqStorm centrifugal superchargers.
Holley did not say how much power the engine makes, but Prestige Motorsports’ website indicates its 427 cu. in. engine builds are good for up to 800 horsepower. We’ve also seen less built-up LS engines with only a single centrifugal supercharger make this much power or more, it’s worth noting.
This engine would be well suited for drag racing applications given its dual forced induction setup. It would also look quite good under the hood of a show car, however, and would give it a unique character. After all, it’s not every day you see an 7.0L V8 with two superchargers bolted to it.
Holley says this “powerhouse” of an engine is valued at a whopping $23,364 USD. Those looking to enter the sweepstakes simply have to fill out the form at this link and hope for the best. 1. The sweepstakes will begin at 12:01 A.M. on March 23, 2020 and will end at 11:59 P.M. CST on June 22, 2020. The winner will be announced on June 25, 2020.
