Wuling, the best-selling brand of General Motors and its partners in China, has just revealed official images of its very first fully electric vehicle. Interestingly, it’s a friendly minicar focused on practicality and personal mobility – a strategy that departs significantly from the brand’s usual offer of minibuses and light commercial vehicles.
SAIC-GM-Wuling claims that the all-new Wuling EV, which does not yet have an official name, is inspired by Japan’s popular kei cars in terms of size and appearance. As such, the style of the vehicle is characterized by straight lines and square elements to make the most of the interior space in its small body.
Due to its environmentally friendly focus and unique format, the exterior design is noticeably different from that of Wuling’s family of combustion-engine vehicles. Up front, the bright black rectangular strip that simulates a grille stands out, which houses the well-concealed charging port under the brand logo. Also, it is the first Wuling model to be offered with a two-tone body.
Unlike Baojun‘s small two-seater electric vehicles – the joint venture’s other brand – the future Wuling EV features a four-seat cockpit to better meet the needs of most Chinese customers. This seating layout is expected to make it more convenient for commuting.
No interior images or technical specifications of this first Wuling EV are available yet. The brand said that the official name and all the vehicle’s details will be announced closer to its launch later this year.

The wheels look really small. Like rollover small.
To quote Curly from City Slickers, ‘I crap bigger than you’.
