The 2021 Chevrolet Equinox made its official debut back in February at the Chicago Auto Show, hitting the scene with a new mid-cycle update that includes new styling front and back, plus the sporty RS trim level and fresh safety tech. Now, we’re taking another look at the refreshed ‘Nox in the following GM Authority Complete Photo Gallery.
Slotting into the compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV) segment, the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox receives new frontend styling courtesy of a broad grille section, angled horizontal dividing lines for the grille insert, and slim headlamps. Below the grille, the lower fascia was reshaped as well, and includes new fog lamps and trim bits as well.
The rear end shows off with new tail lamps, which provide a nice complement to the updated front fascia. The new tail lamps are similar to those of the latest Chevrolet Blazer in that they come with the new “Dual Spear” inner tail lamp graphic, a design cue first introduced with the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu and now used across the Chevrolet lineup.
Meanwhile, the new RS trim stands out for its more aggressive attitude, which comes courtesy of a unique front and rear fascia. The RS also comes with black badges from front to back, black accents and trim, 19-inch “Dark Android” wheels, plus a quad exhaust treatment in the tail.
The 2021 Chevrolet Equinox RS also offers sporty cues inside the cabin, with black upholstery punctuated by red contrast stitching. There central tunnel receives an RS-branded shift knob with further red stitching.
Under the hood, the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox draws motivation from the turbocharged 1.5L LYX inline four-cylinder gas engine. Output is rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can also opt into the turbocharged 2.0L LTG inline four-cylinder, which is rated at 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and connects to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Both FWD and AWD are available.
