A few days ago, we reported that slightly revised fascias were in the cards for the 2021 Buick Encore GX. However, we got our wires crossed, and we’re here to tell you that this will not take place after all, which we’ve confirmed with Buick comms man Chad Lyons.
However, the other changes and updates that we mentioned for the 2021 Encore GX will very much take place, including the introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto. This is a departure from the prior model year, which required a cable to make CarPlay and Android Auto come to life.
In addition, SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability will become standard on all 2021 Buick Encore GX models. For the 2020 Encore GX, SXM is standard only on the two higher-end trims – Select and Essence.

So, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and standard SiriusXM Satellite Radio across the board are a go, but new fascias are not.
The 2021 Encore GX represents the second model year of the new Encore GX, which slots between the first-gen Encore and larger Envision in the Buick crossover lineup. The Tri-Shield brand will become a brand that only offers crossovers in North America, following the discontinuation of its two sedans – the Buick LaCrosse and the upcoming sunsetting of the Buick Regal line, which is offered until the end of the 2020 model year in a sedan-like liftback model called the Regal Sportback and a ruggedized wagon variant called the Regal TourX.

When General Motors redesigns the front fascia of a vehicle, it’s the consumer that pays for the changes which means this is good news.. no new front fascia for the 2021 Buick Encore means the base price won’t be going up significantly more expensive.
