The 2020 GMC Sierra HD has gone on sale at GMC dealers in the Middle East, joining the light-duty GMC Sierra 1500 in General Motors‘ growing truck lineup in the region.
Middle East-based GM customers can now order both the 2020 Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD in Crew Cab and Extended Cab body styles. Both dual rear wheel and single rear wheel configurations will be available as well.
GM says it will eventually offer the 2020 GMC Sierra HD Regular Cab in the Middle East too, although the two-door trucks won’t arrive until sometime later this year. It did not provide a more exact timeline for the Regular Cab’s arrival, only saying that it “will be coming to the region soon.”
The 2020 GMC Sierra HD will only be available with GM’s new 6.6L L8T V8 gas engine in the Middle East, which is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. It will be paired with the same six-speed automatic transmission as the North American-spec version of the truck. The 6.6L turbo-diesel L5P V8 that’s part of the Duramax engine family, which is good for 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, was not listed in GM Middle East’s press release and likely won’t be arriving in the Sierra HD in the region at any point.
GM Middle East has been doubling down on its truck efforts, having also recently launched the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD locally. GM offers exclusive Regular Cab versions of the Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 in the region as well, including the GMC Sierra AT4 Regular Cab and Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss Regular Cab.
Pricing for the 2020 GMC Sierra HD in the Middle East’s various markets has not yet been announced.
