This 1947 Chevrolet 3600 Pickup Truck Needs A New Home

This 1947 Chevrolet 3600 was once a regular blue-collar work vehicle, but after undergoing a thorough restoration, the attractive post-war pickup is more at home at cruise nights and car shows than construction sites.

The truck, which is currently for sale at Gateway Classic Cars in O’Fallon, Illinois, comes ready to drive with a fully functional, numbers-matching 216 cubic-inch inline-six engine. The completely rebuilt Chevy inline-six has 64,000 actual miles on it and is paired with a three-speed manual transmission.

The two-tone black and blue paint is representative of the factory color combination the truck came with, though like the chrome trim and black-painted steel wheels, it was refinished as part of the frame-off restoration process. The interior was also redone and features a brown leather upholstered bench seat, authentic dash gauges, original turn signals/heater controls and numerous other all-original components. Seat belts were also added as part of the restoration process because like many other vehicles from this era, ’47 Chevy pickups did not come with lap belts from the factory.

According to the listing, the current owner of this pickup “has taken care of it for nearly three decades,” but they have now decided it’s now for someone else to enjoy it. Gateway Classic Cars is hoping to get $29,000 for this ultra-clean, fully restored pickup. That is on par with what other pickups of this vintage and similar shape are going for, so this may be an opportunity to scoop up a professionally restored Chevrolet 3600 for a decent price.

  2. That is a great looking truck, done very well. The price is very reasonable if it is what it appears to be. I would love to have it.

  3. I hate to tell you this but this is not a 47 Chevy. Last year the headlights were on top of the fenders was 46. 41 and 46 were just alike.

    1. This is an early 1947 AK series pickup. The Advanced Design ’47s did not come out until the summer of 1947.
