GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado Interior Updates Coming For 2022: Exclusive

Back in August 2019, GM Authority was the first to report that General Motors was planning to bring various updates to the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado interiors. In that report, we stated that the updates will arrive for either the 2021 or 2022 model years. Now, we have learned that the updates will not come for the 2021 model year, but rather for 2022.
The upgrades will synchronize with a refresh, known in GM terminology as a mid-cycle enhancement (MCE), that will also deliver a few minor updates to the exterior. The interior enhancements, meanwhile, will be focused around the mid- and high-end trim levels of each vehicle, though all models should benefit from the updates. Enhancements to the interiors of the Silverado HD and Sierra HD should follow roughly a year after that the light-duty Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 models. The release of the offroad-focused Silverado ZRX should follow around the same timeframe.
Since their release in the second half of 2018 as 2019 models, the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra pickups have been criticized for having interiors that aren’t different enough from those of the last-generation K2 models. Meanwhile, others have praised the interior of the Ram Pickup, also all-new for the 2019 model year, as being more attractive and luxurious than that of the Silverado and Sierra. Meanwhile, others have offered a different take on the Sierra and Silverado interiors, stating that the cabins of GM’s new pickup trucks are just fine.
Furthermore, our sources told us that the interior updates will draw upon the cabins of the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe / 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and 2021 GMC Yukon, while still remaining “truck-like.” It’s also worth noting that the upcoming GMC Hummer EV will make its debut in 2021 for the 2022 model year. As such, it’s possible that incoming updates for the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado interior upcoming EV pickup will also benefit from the cabin of GM’s first electric pickup truck.

another 2 yrs. on a project that should have been done 2 yrs ago while they take advantage of customers by giving them cheapest to build trucks at the same price as the others and take the cash and use it to fast track energizer bunny vehicles that few will probably not want unless liberals force them on people
if you voted for obama because you thought that a black needed a chance to be president you can blame yourself for all these more MPG features on your truck. obama put in place these MPG rules and the reason for money being spent on EV development to meet these rules.
black or blue or yellow i vote for the guy who thinks the most for less government blame california they can depart the u.s. at anytime so we can start building another wall to mainly keep the wackos out
Way to go GM. Late to the game. I am in the market for a new 2500 or 3500, and the Denali is right next to the Ram on my short list. I was afraid of this happening. I don’t want to buy a brand new, supposedly completely redesigned truck and then the next MY, have a new interior.
But now they are saying I’ll have to wait more than 2 model years to get an upgraded interior? WTF!? Who is running the show up there? By then, there will be an exterior refresh, or mid model year upgrade. Which may be a good thing. But I can’t wait that long, my current Silverado isn’t heavy enough to do the work I need it to, plus it’s a getting close to the 200k mile mark, and te little things are just now starting to go bad on it. The drivetrain is strong though. But I can’t tow or carry as much weight as I need to with it.
GM sure is dropping the ball on this. Although I am grateful that they finally caught up to the other two when it comes to weight capacities. So I will give credit where credit is due. The exterior styling of the Sierra HD is a heck of a lot better than the Silverado HD. Heck, all of the new Sierra trucks are better looking than the Silverado, and as I’ve said countless times, I’m a bowtie man for well over 40 years. Too bad Chevy.
I’m not sure why they have to wait. Maybe it has to do with reengineering the cab mounts or something technical. Or maybe it’s a cost issue and GM has to use up all of the components that they already submitted a purchase order for.
I guess it goes to the old saying, “better late than never.” But if that is what GM is doing, shame on them. Because this is why you are LOSING SALES to Ford and Ram.
2 more years of that shit interior, no new GM truck for me!
I can already see the headlines here: “1st quarter 2022 Silverado/Sierra sales trail Ram by 20,000 units but that will all change as soon as the new interiors are fully rolled out over the next 4 years”
by then it will probably be 50k or more put that in your gm tightwad pipe and smoke it
I can’t believe they will keep that craptacular interior for 4 freakin years.
believe it my friend its all about taking your money to finance energizer bunny vehicles
What a joke! The new Dodge Ram interior was released at the Detroit auto show 2 years ago…GM should have been at work on a new interior the second they saw that. They will continue to bleed sales to the Ram, and the redesigned F150 coming later this year.
How are they bleeding sales, when they just picked up market share?
I am in the market for a new 2500 Denali. Went to test drive one and could not believe the cheesy interior. Can’t figure out what GM is thinking. The interior looks no better than a Toyota 4 runner and you want $80k for the truck? Pass. Hopefully the new interiors will come with the 2021 models, if not, I will move into either a Ford or a Ram after being a GM guy for 35+ years.
Wake up GM!
I’m in the same boat as you. I love Chevy, GM trucks. I was horrified by the new Chevy Silverado body. So I started looking at the 2500/3500 Denali. The interior is a hold over from last year model. Crap! So now I have seen that they are supposed to be upgrading the interior. But not in the HD, 2500/3500 series until ’22, or even ’23. WTF!? So, if you want the new interior, you can get it in the 1500 for then ’21 YM. I need then 25/3500 diesel engine and towing capacity. I’d hate to buy a new Denali HD, and two years later see the new interior and feel like I hot kicked in the balls. And I do like the looks of the interior and exterior of the new Dodge trucks, I just don’t like the horrible track record of them. Ford is not on my radar though. Insofar feel let down by a company that I have been using and supporting for decades.
If you are going to a ford i just put some cans in the recycling so they will have aluminum for you, rams have a nice diesels trannys I doubt it 2023 for new interiors in hds
GM will never out sell Ford as long as they employ stupid designers! I worked for GM for 30 years and I can tell you some of the design features of their new trucks are the worst I have ever seen! I have a 2016, 2500 and the interior lights are the worst of any vehicle I have ever seen going back decades! Everybody has to travel with a flashlight to just see INSIDE the truck!
Can someone recommend Dresses and Chemises? Thanks x
