The GM Authority Take

The decrease in GM Mexico sales in January represent the automaker’s twelfth consecutive decline in sales in the country. The negative performance is a result of unfavorable conditions in the Mexican automotive market, which has already accumulated 34 consecutive months of auto sales decreases industry-wide.

As such, a significant amount of GM models offered in Mexico saw their sales volume decrease on a year-over-year basis, with a total of 18 models showing double-digit declines in January. However, 11 models managed to post increases in sales volumes, including the new generation of GM full-size pickups – Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra.
