During the month of February 2020, a Chevrolet Malibu discount reduces the price of most 2019 trim levels by up to $3,000, while select 2020 trims receive a rebate of up to $2,750. These offers include incentives that are only available to GM Cardmembers. It’s worth noting that this offer is slightly less generous than the discount offered in January.
While Chevy did not promote 2019 Malibu incentives last month, shoppers should note that the Bow Tie brand has reintroduced discounts for all 2019 Malibus except base models. It’s also worth noting that, overall, these discounts are a bit conservative compared offers in recent months, including the $5,305 discount in December and $4,000 discount in October.
The Incentive
Nationwide Chevrolet Malibu discount offers during February 2020 are as follows:
- 2019 Malibu Offer: $2,000 customer cash + $1,000 bonus earnings = $3,000 total discount

- Bonus earnings expire March 3rd, 2020. Must be a GM Cardmember as of January 2nd, 2020

About Chevrolet Malibu
The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size sedan sold in most markets where Chevrolet has a business presence. It is currently Chevrolet's second-largest sedan, in the U.S. and Canada, slotting above the subcompact Chevrolet Sonic and compact Chevrolet Cruze but under the full-size Chevrolet Impala.
The current, ninth-generation model was introduced in 2016. It rides on the GM E2 platform shared with the Buick Regal, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Holden Commodore NG, and the Cadillac XT4.
For 2019 - the fourth model year of the ninth-gen model - the Malibu received a midcycle enhancement, otherwise known as a facelift or refresh, that consists of revised exterior styling, a new Malibu RS trim level, a CVT transmission for L, LS, LT and RS models, a new infotainment system, a new 8-inch reconfigurable driver information center (DIC), LED headlamps on the Premier model, and various other new features.
The Chevrolet Malibu is produced at the following GM plants:
- GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas, USA supplying the Americas
- GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea supplying Eurasia
- Shanghai GM Jinqiao North in China (GM China) supplying China

A new Malibu cannot get here fast enough.
Or at least a completely MCE front/Back and more specifically an all new interior
Malibu has a very well composed drive and looks good but GM would reach number three in sales had they replaced Malibu with Impala at a midsized price point.
A $21,900 Impala, tops in quality, with a premium design, and large size, would challenge Accord. The platform is already paid for. Impala would smash Fusion as well as Sentra.
Instead GM continues to discount an already rejected Malibu that if anything harms Chevrolet’s brand perception.
PS: GM could have also sold a lightly reskinned Lacrosse or Regal in place of Malibu. To thrive with sedans GM needs the best
Don’t worry, the marketing geniuses at GM will soon sabotage the one remaining mid size sedan GM has left that isn’t an overpriced Cadillac, sales will keep falling and the inevitable cancelation notice will be showing up on these pages in another year or so.
It’s such a shame they didn’t rescue the Regal hatch and wagon and re-badge and grille them into Malibus. Give the lower trims the 1.5T but with 170-180 HP and give the RS and Premier trims the current 2.0T for the hatch and 2.0T std for wagon. Price them at current Malibu prices and promote them. With the Chrysler 200 dead and the Fusion soon to be dead, Chevy would own this segment as far as American companies go with two unique and utility enhanced cars.
