The Chevrolet Blazer nameplate made its comeback for the 2019 model year, dropping into the Bow Tie brand’s stable as an all-new midsize crossover utility vehicle (CUV). One of the Blazer’s most noteworthy features is its eye-catching styling, with a highly angular and aggressive design that helps the crossover standout in a somewhat bloated vehicle segment. Now, we’re taking the Blazer’s unique look and applying it to a pickup truck body style with the following GM Authority Rendering.
Before we dive into this thing, it’s worth noting that this rendering was created purely for imaginative purposes. For the moment, General Motors has no plans to actually produce a new Chevrolet Blazer pickup, so the rendering is really just for fun.
That said, it’s also worth noting that there is space in General Motors’ North American lineup for a new pickup, specifically something that would slot in underneath the Chevrolet Colorado with a unibody construction.
With that covered, let’s have a closer look at our Chevrolet Blazer pickup rendering:
Up front, we find a familiar face with the characteristic Blazer styling, including the same front grille, horizontal grille insert, slim headlamps, and black fog lamp housings.
Moving towards the rear of the vehicle, things change dramatically as soon as we reach the B-pillar. The Chevrolet Blazer Pickup replaces the CUV’s rear doors with a truck bed, essentially creating a single cab configuration with regard to the body style. The Blazer nameplate is still present on the door, while the rear haunches look poised over the rear wheels with the characteristic Blazer styling lines.
Viewed from the rear, we have an even better view of the rounded rear fender line, which flows back into a set of tail lamps integrated with the tailgate and sporting the latest “Dual Spear” inner graphics. Lower in the rear fascia are trapezoidal exhaust tips integrated with the bumper
Of course, we wanna know – are you a fan of our Chevrolet Blazer Pickup rendering? Do you think General Motors should consider producing something like this? You guys and gals should work for GM, looks like something I would drive
I’d buy that for sure
If you were especially short maybe. This thing, as rendered, would have no leg room.
To make this mini pickup feasible, GM could build it on any chassis, just use the larger GM SUV chassis from it’s bigger models and make it narrow to mount the body of the Blazer front end, but you will then have a longer chassis than the normal Blazer chassis. Then it’s a useful truck. And add the Twin turbo 3.0 liter engine to make it an SS or Redline version. Here’s my money now for the SS version.
Take a look at the Hummer truck render Car and Driver did. It actually looked like something GM did.
If GM were to do this they would do a crew cab or at least an extra cab with storage space behind the seat.
It needs to be based on the three row Blazer to provide the larger cab.
Also incorporate the Avalanche cab wall that opens.
It also may be advisable to consider the a Nox as this would need to be a global vehicle sold in markets with the small Ute there now. It would slot better under the mid size truck.
🤣🤣🤣🤮🤮🤮
I agree with C8.R that it needs to be based on the 3 row version of the Blazer but, at least the artist stayed true to a truck, not everyone wants or, needs a truck with a back seat.
Have you owned one ? You know truck with a rear seat…
You mean an El Comino ?
That would be crazy. Chevy Blazer pickup sport truck. Why not it would be different kind of style and it also would be sport pick up truck of the next of kin. Try it out and see what people say or do.
😂😂😂😂
Nothing new….
You never heard of the S-10 Blazer and pick up ?
It look really nice sport pick up truck. Yes I think gm should make some and see what happen beside it would be the baby of the Chevy Blazer. I would go for it. It different style of pick up of gm.
I always thought the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer would make a great starting point for an El Camino like vehicle with more curves than this rendering is offering.
Nope
If guys really want a non-truck based pick-up, a Camaro in Nomad wagon and “Camino” style pick-up is the way to go and keeps the Camaro coupe alive since its in more than one bodystyle.
So long as they put the ZL1 front end on them!
No no and no…
All types of NO!
Really, really, not.
There should be some kind of El Camino-ish vehicle, but this looks like somebody took a sawzal to a Blazer.
And you wonder why the Honda Ridgeline looks so funny…
Definitely a no.
If one were going to re-render a Chevy Blazer you would think it would be a Blazer with a removable top?
This is like chipping a ground ball to the first baseman while swinging for the fences!
This to me looks like the SSR. We don’t need another one of those. this is a no.
As long as they price it right. The SSR was way out of reach for most consumers. I was going to get one but then saw the price and forgot about it.
Overall, I like the Blazer pickup design. It is fresh, 21st century, although I’d be less aggressive with the titanic grill–it just tends to diminish the rest of the design. I don’t like the current trend of big grills. Less is more.
OK Guys. Remember Subaru’s attempt-TWICE at this same concept? ( The BRAT & The BAJA). It failed both times. If GM is gonna do something like this, it should be a rear wheel drive truck. And I mean a TRUCK! We have enough of these crazy CUV’s running around. Jeep is killing everyone with simple solid axle, go anywhere sharp looking trucks. GM HAS to get going. The new Bronco is said to be just that, a Jeep killer. Just sayin’
I don’t disagree with everything you’re saying, but most people don’t take their vehicles off road and that includes Jeep. Making vehicles built for off road adds cost most people never use. There are options out there for the few that do.
If you’re talking Jeep trucks, the Gladiator hasn’t done well in comparisons, and sales haven’t been great and may have already plateaued.
Well, with full size trucks getting bigger and the Colorado / Ranger darn near as big as full size trucks were 10 years ago, I d say yes this is a good idea. As noted above an extended cab version would be nice. Priced right, I’d take a look at it for sure.
No No No . We’ve got enough extended cabs. Leave it as a 2 door. Everything today mostly has four doors.
I’d take a 2 door no problem. One of the best trucks I owed was a reg cab lwb ‘92 Silverado.
Yes please!
Nagyon szép. Sajnálom,,hogy nincs.
Awesome looking design! Better apply for a job at GM.
Vomit
Toataly agree! See my above post. It’s getting affair amount of thumbs up! GM has got to get on the ball Enough is enough already! Just sayin’
You’re sort of correct with the US market, Brats and Bajas still running strong in there applications also most other countries.
Welp… That’s enough internet for today!
*signs off*
I think the SSR, Reatta, Cascada, Crossfire, Prowler, recent Mustang, Solstace/Sky, all failed because they were introduced with a ho hum engine. They all could have been a pocket rocket with a performance option.
GM– if you build the El Blazer, at least make it available an exciting engine, gas or electric.
Bring on a Blazer based pickup now! I need a replacement for my 95 S-10 SS. The new pickups (I have one) are way too big for an everyday driver but the S 10 is perfect. The rendering is way too ugly but is a step in the right direction.
Buy a real then…
I’ve been looking for a hot street truck like my old Dakota 5.9 R/T. This would have the potential to do just that. Wouldn’t have to be 4WD or AWD, keep the thing lowered like a street cruiser, put a handling package under it, put together a “SS” trim and performance package, and drop in a V8 engine. I’d buy that in a heartbeat!,
GM just needs to bring back the El Camino with AWD. I’d buy one tomorrow!
Make it RWD and stuff a V-8 in there. Or, at least a twin turbo 6. And, of course, an EV version to save the Planet…
Camaro owners who need some utility would be all over this. Plus a new slew of buyers.
Why not?
… I should be eating tacos in it, driving down Crenshaw with Vanilla Ice
not for the American market…it needs to be long and wide inside….
Well if it did get built G.M. would likely price most people out of it.
Looks like it might have come out of Holden, as part of their “Ute” program. 🙂
Could pass as an “H4” variant….Bolt platform to look like a mini-Hummer.
Structurally this is unrealistic. You would need unibody rails like the first-gen Honda Ridgeline or Tesla Cybertruck.
The cars that have ute mods have extreme body roll without very careful work being done. The second-gen Ridgeline got bigger and there’s a huge rear cab gap to eliminate it. Tesla did the opposite with Cybertruck and embraced it. But you have to do one or the other.
The only way this would pencil out… would be as a body kit on the Colorado.
Well I hope Gm Authority sends this to GM for them to see. This has had as many posts as when they posted that the Equinox didn’t have a CD player. I’m still getting emails over this. lol
