Callaway has just released the details on its new 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 SC750 – which turns up the dial on the already bonkers ZL1 with various powertrain upgrades.
Helping to truly set the Camaro ZL1 SC750 apart from a regular ZL1 is Callaway”s ‘GenThree’ supercharger system. This Roots-type blower is made by Callaway, but uses the same rotor pack as the Eaton TVS 2300 system. The new, larger supercharger pokes through the hood of the Camaro ZL1 SC750 (a Callaway signature), so it doesn’t have to be sized down to fit underneath a stock hood. This allows the company to use larger rotor packs with a 2300cc displacement, compared to the stock 1740cc supercharger that comes with the Camaro ZL1. The package also includes a Callaway high flow cold air intake system and new carbon fiber manifold covers with ‘SC750’ badging.
The Callaway GenThree supercharger boosts output of the Camaro ZL1’s supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine from 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet to 750 horsepower and 738 pound-feet.
This translates into a 0-60 mph time of 3.2s and a quarter-mile time of 11.0s at 128 mph with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission. Six-speed manual-equipped models will hustle from 0-60 mph in 3.3s and run the quarter-mile in 11.2s at 127 mph.
Also included with the Camaro ZL1 SC750 are Callaway-branded door sill panels, two Callaway-branded key fobs, Callaway floor mats and a certificate of authenticity. Best of all, this package can be ordered from Chevrolet dealerships and does not void the factory 3-year, 36,000-mile GM limited warranty. That makes this the most powerful Chevrolet Camaro available with a factory warranty. How about that, Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye and Mustang GT500 owners?

The motivation for Callaway to do this is that Chevrolet developed the 750 horsepower LT5 supercharged 6.2L V8 for the 2019 Chevrolet C7 Corvette ZR1 and decided not to use the engine in other applications like the Chevrolet Camaro or Suburban, imagine a Suburban equipped with a LT5 as a Police or Military personnel vehicle.
Beautiful.
Love to see what it will do to a Shelby Mustang GT 500!
Unlike the Mustang, the Callaway’s torque is virtually identical to its hospower.
And I will take the growl and whine of a supercharged small block Chevrolet over the clatter of a flat plane Ford any day.
Still needs more power to compete with the GT500. The Mustang is trapping 134mph thru the qtr to the Callaway’s 128:(
Have you noticed that Ford has not published any track times. ZL1 would edge the overweight GT500 out on the Trackx
