The debut of the C8 Corvette dominated auto news headlines in 2019, garnering widespread attention and praise all across the world. It makes sense – after all, the move to a new mid-engine platform is a fundamental change for the storied Chevrolet Corvette nameplate. However, with full production officially underway, some are wondering how the sports car came to be. Now, a new documentary aims to answer that question.
The new doc is titled “Revolution: The Mid-Engine Corvette Development Story,” and is previewed in a brief one-minute, 25-second teaser video. Broken into two parts, the new documentary is set to be released in the next few months. Interested fans will find the new C8 Corvette documentary at the Corvette homepage on Chevy’s media site.
The doc looks to include some valuable insights from the individuals that actually put in the work to create the new C8 Corvette. What’s more, the video will talk about the team’s time at the world-famous Nürburgring race track, where the new C8 honed its performance chops to compete against some of the most impressive sports cars on the planet.
Indeed, the pressure that the C8 Corvette team felt in developing this new mid-engine sports car is palpable. The emphasis is on “getting it right” with regard to performance, design, and execution, all while paying homage to the Corvette nameplate lineage.
Of course, the story of C8 Corvette is far from over. We’re still eagerly awaiting further details on the upcoming C8 Corvette Z06, which was recently spotted in Southern California conducting some real-world testing alongside a Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The latest news is that C8 Corvette Z06 will come with a massive rear wing and naturally aspirated V8 engine.

We will see a number of books too!
I still LOVE the book “All Corvettes Are Red” about the C5 development! Can’t wait for something similar for the C8!
Amazon has one listed for May Stingray. It is about the C8. The Author is listed as GM but often Larry Edsel does these books for GM and Motorbooks.
Gary Witzenberg used to do these books for GM but now Larry has been tied to the Volt, Camaro and Corvette.
They are tell all’s from the GM point of view so there is not a lot of dirt. But they usually have a lot of insider photos and drawings.
I can’t wait!
The media says Corvette C8 Stingray Z51 lapped the Ring in 7;29:9 with Oliver Gavin at the wheel
7:29 is quite slow for a brand-new mid-engine Corvette. The previous generation C7 Grand Sport with 40 HP less than the current C8 did it faster: In 7:27.05
Netflix? Amazon prime? Please tell me there will be a bluray and DVD of it also? JOSE ,38,MIAMI, CORVETTE KID.
If I understand the article correctly, we can watch the documentary for free on Chevrolet’s media website.
What’s a DVD????
I will force my entire family to sit down and watch both parts. On valentines day.
Nothing sensational with the new mid-engine C8 Stingray, it’s just an organised hype by the GM Marketing guys. 7:29 min. is quite slow for a brand-new mid-engine Corvette on the Nurburgring. The previous generation C7 Grand Sport with 40 HP less (!) than the current C8 and front-engine architecture did it much faster: In 7:27.05. The C7 was better!
The C8 is truly an American engineering Masterpiece. One day, it will be at the Henry Ford or the Smithsonian as a display.
that video does its best to hide the c8’s rear.
Would like to see the documentary, also looking forword to a plant tour to watch the new corvette being built.
The C7 GS has 35 less horse, 200 lbs lighter , has much bigger tires, wheels, brake and is a track monster. The base Z51 C8 to be within 2 seconds at the Nurburgring is fantastic.
