Amalgam, maker of high-end automotive models and diecasts, has just released a new line of Corvette models that aim to “capture the essence of the most sculpturally interesting and outrageous designs throughout the history” of the American performance icon.
The sculptures, which include every generation of Corvette from the C1 through to the new mid-engine C8, are hand-cast in a stone-filled resin and then finished in plated aluminum. They are also coated with five layers of paint and a tinted lacquer for some additional depth.
Amalgam says the color of each of the Corvette models “reflects our impression of the vogue of each era.” The C1 Corvette is a pink/magenta hue, while the C2 and C8 are both a different shade of chrome. The C4 is a dark gold/bronze, while the C5 is a lighter shade of yellow gold. Amalgam was the most adventurous with the C5 and C7, which are green and black, respectively.
These models were designed by Remco de Reus, a Dutch automotive art specialist with a background in engineering design. According to Amalgam, the models are still in development and the current images are the latest digital renders available. It’s not clear when they will first start to ship to customers.
If you’re in need of some new decorations for your work or home office, you can register your interest in the Amalgam Corvette Sculptures via the brand’s website. Amalgam also has a ton of other interesting models for well-to-do car and racing enthusiasts with some cash to spend, though be warned, many of its scale model cars are as expensive as an affordable used car.
