Abu Dhabi Dealer Hosting Drag Race Event For GM Owners

A large ChevroletGMC dealership in Abu Dhabi will host a drag racing event for local General Motors vehicle owners this Friday.

The Swaihan Thunder Mile King event will be hosted at the Tilal Swaihan events center in Abu Dhabi and is open to Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro, Tahoe and Silverado owners and GMC Yukon and Sierra owners. Set to kick off this Friday at 8 am GST, the event will see entrants face-off against each other in a series of quarter-mile drag races.

Bin Hamoodah Auto, the dealership hosting the event, says finalists will “get the chance to take the ‘Swaihan Thunder Mile King’ title home and claim rewards ranging from trophies to cash prizes of up to AED 10,000.” The event will also have plenty for spectators to do, with food stalls and various entertainment options set up around the drag strip.

“Open from 8 am to 4 pm, Bin Hamoodah’s Swaihan Thunder Mile Race is the perfect adrenaline-filled way to kick off the weekend and spend an afternoon with friends and family, in true GMC and Chevrolet style,” the dealership said in a statement.

Tilal Swaihan, the events area where the Swaihan Thunder Mile King will be held, is home to both a mile-long asphalt drag strip and a sand drag strip. In addition to the racing facilities, Tilal Swaihan also has cycling trails and a camping area.

GM recently celebrated the launch of a handful of market exclusive truck models in the Middle East: the Silverado RST  and Trail Boss Regular Cab and the GMC Sierra Elevation and AT4 Regular Cab. The Sierra AT4 Regular Cab is featured on the promotional poster for the Swaihan Thunder Mile King, which is embedded above.

Interested GM owners who live in the region can sign up for the event at this link.
