2020 Yenko Camaro Convertible Pairs Top Down Motoring With 1000 HP

We’ve already detailed New Jersey-based tuner Speciality Vehicle Engineering’s 2020 Yenko Camaro Stage 2, which produces over 1,000 horsepower from its supercharged V8, but now the company has released a convertible version of the ridiculously powerful pony car.

The 2020 Yenko Camaro Convertible is powered by supercharged 6.8L V8 engine that is based around General Motors 6.2L LT1 V8 engine found in the stock Camaro SS. SVE says it can build the car around a Camaro Convertible 1SS or 2SS, though the package will only be offered on models with the 10-speed automatic transmission. The car will also come with some off-the-shelf performance parts from GM, including Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo 6 Piston Front and 4 Piston Rear Brakes, heavy-duty engine oil, transmission and rear differential coolers and dual-mode exhaust.

Some GM cosmetic parts are also featured on the vehicle including a 1LE front splitter and Blade rear spoiler, while SVE has added its own Yenko side stripes and hood graphics. Torqthrust-style five-spoke alloy wheels and a carbon fiber hood with a large cowl induction vent round out the styling changes. The Camaro’s optional Recaro performance seats are the only thing to get excited about in the cabin, really, although SVE does offer a unique interior package in the way of its Black and White Hounds Tooth Seat Trim package, which lends the cabin a bit of an old school look.

SVE says it will build just 25 examples of its 2020 Yenko Camaro Convertible. The vehicles will come with a numbered plaque indicating its limited-edition status and the buyer will also receive a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin.

Like the 2020 Yenko Camaro Coupe, the convertible model will be available to order from Chevrolet dealers. Prices for the upgrade package, not including the donor car, start at “under $70,000,” for the coupe, according to SVE. It did not provide a price for the convertible package, though it seems unlikely it would differ in price from the coupe package by very much, if at all.

  1. The only problem with this Camaro is the price because given the new C8 Corvette being so affordable, one has to wonder whether there will be a market for cars costing more than the Corvette and may not be able to match the overall performance of the new C8 Corvette and the C8 Corvette is the new standard as some cars will be considered DOA the moment it hits the showroom because of the high price and low performance.
