The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse features minor changes and updates, including the deletion of three exterior colors and the addition of three new colors: Stone Gray Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Black Cherry Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Black Cherry hue.
Availability
Assigned color code GLR and touch-up paint code WA-326E, Black Cherry Metallic is one of four dark hues available for the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. It’s also one of two “black” color options available for the SUV, with the other being Mosaic Black Metallic.
The new Black Cherry Metallic color is included in the base price of the 2020 Traverse. In addition, the new dark red hue is offered on the LT, Premier and High Country trim levels, and can be matched with all interior color combinations except for Jet Black with Dark Galvanized.
2020 Chevrolet Traverse Trim Levels:
- L
- LS
- LT
- RS
- Premier
- High Country
2020 Chevrolet Traverse Interior Color Combinations:
- Dark Atmosphere with Medium Ash Gray
- Jet Black
- Jet Black with Dark Galvanized
- Jet Black with Loft Brown
It’s worth noting that the addition of the Black Cherry Metallic hue is a bit of a common theme for the 2020 model year, as a couple of other Chevrolet vehicles have adopted the color – including the 2020 Malibu (see the Malibu in Black Cherry Metallic), 2020 Suburban (see the Suburban in Black Cherry Metallic) as well as the 2020 Tahoe (see the Tahoe in Black Cherry Metallic).
Launch Timeframe
As of this writing, the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse can already be found at dealers, since the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan has been assembling and shipping the 2020 model to dealers for the past few months. Models in the Black Cherry Metallic exterior color are already on dealer lots. Availability varies by dealer, so check with yours for complete details.
About Chevrolet Traverse
The Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV). It is the biggest Chevrolet crossover currently offered, slotting above the subcompact Chevrolet Trax and compact Chevrolet Equinox. It will also slot above the much-rumored, future Chevrolet Blazer.
The current model was introduced for the 2018 model year and represents the second generation of the Traverse nameplate. It rides on the extended-length GM C1 platform shared with the second-generation Buick Enclave. A shorter variant of the same platform underpins the second-gen GMC Acadia, first-gen Cadillac XT5 and all-new 2019 Chevy Blazer.
Compared to its first-generation predecessor, the second-gen Traverse is an all-new vehicle that is larger, lighter, sleeker and more modern. It also introduces new trim levels, including High Country and RS - neither of which were present on the first-generation model.
The Chevrolet Traverse is built at the GM Delta Lansing Township factory in Michigan operated by GM USA. It is currently the only plant that builds the Traverse in any part of the world.
