A new update applied to Microsoft’s wildly popular open world driving title Forza Horizon 4 includes the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top – which joins the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Wagon that is already featured in the game.
Forza Horizon 4 players looking to put the Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top in their garage can participate in the Eliminator online game mode for this season – which is essentially a battle royale-style game mode that eliminates players through a series of driving challenges.
The Hummer H1 Alpha is heavily re-worked and re-engineered version of the standard Hummer H1, featuring more General Motors parts. The automaker wanted to make the militaristic H1 and bit more appropriate for road use, so it gave it more power by dropping one of its 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engines in the hulking SUV, along with a durable Allison transmission. It also reinforced the chassis with some additional high-strength steel, used quieter axle differentials, redesigned the exhaust and redesigned the fuel supply system, among other improvements. The H1 Alpha’s time was brief, though, lasting for jsut one model year until GM decided its money was best spent elsewhere.
“In 2006, the H1 underwent a major redesign, including a Duramax Diesel engine, Allison transmission, raised body and redesigned brush guard, which garnered it the designation of ‘Alpha'”, Microsoft said in a press release. “The H1 Alpha Open Top is dropping into the Eliminator mode, so keep an eye on your rearview mirror.”
In addition to the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top, this Series 18 update also includes the addition of three new vehicles to the game: the 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante, the 1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex and the 1964 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet Emory Special. New events are also in the cards, including two new Showcase Remix events – one of which features a V12 taxi racing a Delta-Wing style aircraft.
