A few years ago, the Ford Mustang was the butt of the internet’s collective joking when Mustang memes began popping up on car forums and enthusiast pages on Facebook and Instagram. These memes framed Mustang owners as dangerous drivers after several clips of Mustangs crashing while leaving car meets went viral – a stereotype the iconic Ford pony car hasn’t really been able to shake off.
That may be because Mustang owners keep crashing and the internet keeps producing videos of said crashes. This week, we stumbled across this rather scary Mustang crash video on Twitter, which shows what appears to be a fifth-generation Ford Mustang GT/CS leaving a car meet and attempting to turn right onto a busy road. As the driver pulls out, he gives the car some gas and begins to fishtail, causing him to lose control and drift up into the outside lane. The Mustang is then t-boned by a passing Cadillac Escalade, which was traveling in the outside lane and presumably didn’t see the Mustang fishtailing ahead of him.
Aftermath footage of the crash shows extensive damage to the driver’s side of the Mustang. The Mustang driver only suffered minor injuries in the crash, from what we can gather on Twitter – a very lucky turn of events seeing as the Escalade appears to have made direct contact with the door. The Escalade, meanwhile, is shown with heavy front end damage and a broken windshield. It’s not clear if any occupants of the Escalade were hurt in the accident.
Check out the video of the crash embedded below. There is some choice language used in the video at times, so if you’re at work or around kids, you may want to grab your headphones before pressing play.
